We put our house on the market a couple of weeks ago. We spent months getting it ready to sell. It was hard work. For me, it was the worst home related experience I've endured. Packing up and moving was an excruciating experience but now, I think it's pretty easy. I hope that I never have to sell a home again - or at least, not for a looooong ( Read more... )

YAY YAY YAY!!! If you want to leave Anya at our place, you are more than welcome to do that. We are out of town the weekend of the 14th, but otherwise, we are around.

Are you going to rent for a bit while you find a place out here, or does this mean you two are in serious home-buying mode now?

We are in super serious home-buying mode...we need to make an offer on something by the end of this next week. Uuuuugggg.

So until we get a contract on a place with a set date, we don't know when 'moving day' will be.

Good luck! I am sure you will find something. It is amazing how fast this happened! I am so glad you were able to sell your house so quickly... I was worried it was going to take forever given how bad home sales are right now.

Oh yeah, and we just signed our new lease, today, so we are definitely moving, too (on July 25). I hope you end up in our new neighborhood!!!

Thanks! We are lucky this time though. J's very generous new job is paying for our entire move (even packing!!), and my mom is coming out so she will be here to hang out with S while J and I try to get unpacked (she loves having an excuse to visit her grandbaby).

You two can help by finding a house nearby, so we can hang out more often. ;)

Congratulations! Selling a house is tough in this market! People always try to low-ball you at first, you did the right thing with your counter offer. Good job!

Yeah, I was a bit surprised at the low-ball offer. It's kind of offensive and rude...especially when the asking price isn't at all overpriced...I mean, I thought that it really was 'priced to sell'. Oh well. It turned out fine.
