And, yes. I noticed the Orphe/Ed Elmunt/Camus etc/etc subtext. And the Naoji/Lui not-subtext. And I'm not usually a raging yaoi supporter, so I wasn't even LOOKING for it. Meine Liebe pretty much goes, hey, I'm TOTALLY NOT YAOI, but I smack you in the head with gay, but TOTALLY NOT YAOI.
Also, Chibi-Naoji is quite cute, and I was pretty freaked out by Lui as a kid, but he grew on me a bit.
Lui makes me happy in general, just beCAUSE he's so evil and bastardy. Whoa...Firefox just didn't yell at me for using "bastardy". Apparently it's a word. Sorry, it's late. Uh...the crazy person is finished now. =^^=

Meine Liebe, so subtle with the gay. They exorcize all significant female presence and cast people like Sakurai Takahiro and Koyasu Takehito, but OH NO THEY COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE GAY. I've never heard of an anime series being in the closet before, but there ya go.
And Lui's appeal is totally in his jerkassness, I'm with you on that. Seeing him be a catty asshole to people on his own side and get away with it because he's Lui and that's what he does was probably one of the most entertaining parts of the show. =D

Ehehe, "in the closet" is a GREAT description for this anime. I find it hilarious when people are like, this ISN'T a shounen-ai anime, and I don't know WHERE people are getting these rumors. I'm like, yes, it isn't SUPPOSED to be shouen-ai, but you'd have to be blind AND stupid to not see where people are getting it.
I mostly just sit and laugh at the hilarity of the large amount of gay in that show. Not that I dislike it.
By the way, can I friend you? I think you're pretty cool, and you have a great and sarcastic sense of humor (sarcasm, by the way, rules all), so...yeah. I don't know if you mind, cause some people are really uptight about being friended if they don't know you in real life.

It's really a clever tactic, isn't it? Catering to the BL fangirlies while leaving everything open-ended enough to provide fodder for any number of pairings, and being ambiguous enough to still appeal to people who don't dig the boys love. Have you ever seen Saint Beast, or Koutetsu Sangokushi? They have the same thing goin' on; Wikipedia actually has Koutetsu Sangokushi listed as both shounen and shounen-ai. (And Ishida Akira's in all three of them... Apparently, his presence = gay. SUDDENLY IT ALL MAKES SENSE?)
