I'm mostly curious about the demon bit. You said he was possessed, or something?

Kind of. He made a Soul Pact with one. It's actually one of the three strongest demons back home, Asteroth the Fallen Angel.

When a guy makes a Soul Pact with a demon, supposedly the one who made the pact gets stronger, faster and all that jazz and they can call upon the demon who they made the pact with. However, with some guys, their willpower isn't strong enough and they end up being killed, the demon takes over the body, and all hell breaks loose. Unless the demon is satisfied with the person they made the pact with as well, that's usually what happens.

In Nicolai's case, he seems to actually be strong enough to hold it back from taking over. I can't read demons' minds unless they're in the Graveyard, so I can't say if Asteroth's satisfied or not.

There's like a big mental internet sort of thing that everyone can talk on, but a lot of people who first show up don't realize it so it takes them a while to figure out when they're talking on it and when they aren't.
