[RL with Kratos and Yuan: Hospital visit]

Aug 18, 2008 11:59

Yuan had slowly been recovering sine the goddess had visited, and Jacky had been keeping an eye on him to make sure things were well. Of course, the past few days she could do little being a dog. But she was back to normal now, which meant it was time to pay Yuan a visit again. Not that he didn't visit him enough, but he was getting better now and ( Read more... )

As luck would have it, Yuan was in fact awake at the moment, though all he was doing was lying on his back and staring at the ceiling. Jade's refusal to forgive him had hurt him deeply, but he wasn't about to admit that to anyone. He didn't even plan on telling anyone about it if he could help it. It wasn't like they would care anyway. All he did was cause trouble for everyone else, that much was obvious.

Jade's reaction had driven home the fact that he couldn't expect forgiveness from anyone for what he had done. He knew that, even expected it, but it still hurt. Though that's nothing compared to what they must be feeling right now, he thought to himself. I did such horrible things to them...Another coughing fit caused him to grimace. This was really getting old quickly; although he knew he needed to get the miasma out of his body, his chest hurt from coughing so frequently. He just hoped it would be over soon ( ... )

Yuan's discomfort ratcheted up a good dozen notches when the last person he'd wanted to see opened the door and stepped in. What was Jade doing here? Was he going to mock him again? Yuan wouldn't have put that past him at this point after their little encounter the other day. The wounds from that were still fresh on his psyche and he bristled instinctively, glaring at Jade with an expression that was deadly calm yet simmering with silent rage. The meaning was clear: what are YOU doing here?"Jade," he answered in the interest of being polite. His tone of voice, however, was unmistakably frosty. Although he would never admit it, he was grateful for Jade's arrival if only for the fact that it had broken up his fight with Kratos. Perhaps now Jade would order them all to leave him alone ( ... )

Lovely, Jade had arrived. Jacky let out a small sigh, but otherwise hid her annoyance with Jade. She didn't need to cause more problems than there were already. Though she regretted she couldn't use this instance to rub it in Jade's face. Her goddess had worked. And he hadn't wanted to ask anyone for help.

She looked back at Jade now and smiled at him. It looked genuine, and maybe some of it was. She was grateful he had come to stop the fighting. It was clear neither of the boys would listen to her. But she was still annoyed by his presence. Oh well. She would deal with it.

"Of course I'm here, Jade," She said simply. She noted the stare from Yuan. It was clear that all was not well. Was there ever anything right with any of them anymore?

Great... now Jade was here. And it seemed that he had at least caught the end of the argument. How much had he heard exactly? As Jade intercepted, Kratos had no choice but to divert his attention to him instead of Yuan... Judging by Yuan's reaction, Jade was just as unwelcome as either of the two who had entered the room first and this did little to improve Yuan's mood, that much was clear.

Although he didn't look directly at the Colonel, the words Kratos spoke next were obviously addressed to him. "This is between us... Stop interfering and let him speak for himself."

Kratos was clearly unhappy, but the more he took out his frustration on Jade, the less damage he hoped he would do to Yuan. And deep down, Kratos knew that that must be the point of Jade's interception, even if he would never admit it openly.

Jade paid no attention to Yuan's tone or stare, clearly unfazed or surprised, and asked some of the things he had been wondering about since yesterday's conversation. "You've managed, haven't you? I understand your personal attendant hasn't come back yet." He opted not to use Asch's name, preferring not to bring him into the matter seeing as he wasn't sure if Jacky and Kratos were informed of their relationship ( ... )

The color drained from Yuan's face. "You wouldn't," he hissed angrily at the Colonel, too upset to even catch Jade's remark about Asch. Although he had no idea how much they currently know about just what he was, it was unlikely the doctors were aware that he was an angel or that he possessed wings and near-immortality. If they were to find out, well... he would likely be treated as an experiment. Things like angels didn't exist in Auldrant to his knowledge; of course they'd want to treat him as some precious lab specimen and study him. He found that thought incredibly distressing.

A sick feeling was already beginning to form in the pit of his stomach. Right now he felt more miserable than he had in a long time, and if he'd had his way he would have ordered them all out of the room long ago. So Jade had come to torment him again...

But he wouldn't dare reveal anything about the Cruxis Crystal, right? Right?

Right now, Yuan wasn't so sure.

Jacky shot a glare at Jade. She knew what he was doing, he wasn't as subtle as he thought he was. But he was distressing Yuan in the process, an unnecessary thing to be done. Yuan didn't need this right now.

Jacky placed a reassuring hand on Yuan's arm to calm him down. "Kratos is free to go with him," Jacky said calmly. No need to make matters worth. "I'm sure he could keep Jade from making a simple slip-up."

She looked to Kratos briefly, hoping he would get the idea. Then she looked to Jade crossly. She was grateful to him for stopping the fighting, but if he tried something like that again she would have her own words with him away from here.

Kratos was still angry. Now Jade was trying to remove him from the room and he wasn't doing so tactfully. It was obvious how distressed Yuan was... perhaps he should go with him if only to calm him down. He was supposed to be helping his old friend after all. And when Jacky looked to him, willing him to follow Jade's lead, he realised that he would have to go. He was definitely unwelcome here, and to stay would only make things worse than they were already. It didn't make Kratos feel any better in himself though, feeling like an outsider.

Even if he went with Jade, he wasn't going to forget this.

"Fine..." he said coldly, getting to his feet and making his way over to the waiting Colonel without a word to the others.

"Well then, let's get going, shall we? I'd rather not have to stay here much longer. Yuan obviously doesn't enjoy my company any longer," Jade responded, still not interested in putting up his smiling mask just yet. Perhaps that was a bit more threatening than needed, but he found it necessary for them to get the idea.

He opened the door and ushered Kratos out before saying quietly, "And I intend to have a word with you while you're assisting me with my paperwork. You of all people should know that Yuan's not in a state where he'd be able to argue." Remembering Yuan's obvious denial to the possibility of the idea, the Colonel finally turned and smiled in his direction. "Of course not. You should know me better than that, at least Jacky pays attention. Now get healthy before Asch skewers me."

Stepping out and closing the door behind him, he turned to Kratos and gave a smirk, "My apologies. I hadn't intended on saying anything about the Cruxis Crystal really, but well, I may be a bit more dramatic than I let on."

Yuan watched Jade leave, eyes still flinty with anger. At the touch of Jacky's hand on his arm he instinctively shrugged it off with a sharp hiss, no longer caring if he upset her or not. Right now he didn't care if he upset any of them-- they all deserved it. Especially Jade.

However, he was a bit surprised that Jade's trademark grin wasn't on his face... was the other man actually angry? Of course... he was mad at Yuan too. He'd made that clear enough the other day.

Despite being in a room surrounded by people, Yuan suddenly felt more alone than he had in a long time.

Yuan's response to Jacky's touch did not go unnoticed. She pulled her hand away from him but otherwise did nothing to show that she had noticed. She didn't want to upset him anymore and, though it upset her somewhat, she could get past it. It wasn't as though she had expected Yuan to be happy about seeing her again. She had known this was coming.

Once Jade and Kratos left Jacky let out another sigh. She didn't want to make Kratos feel unwelcome, but she needed Jade to stop distressing Yuan and it was clear that Jade wanted Kratos to go with him. But if Jade pulled another stunt like that, Jacky would definitely have a few choice words with him herself.

"Sorry, Yuan." Was all she said. She knew any further attempt to apologize or explain would just end up with him yelling at her again and she didn't want that.

Of course Kratos hadn't expected Jade to just lead him quietly to help out with the paperwork. He obviously had words to say to him, and he knew they would be anything but good, kind words. But the last thing Kratos wanted right now was to be scolded by someone he didn't even know particularly well, especially about this subject. He left the room with the Colonel and waited for him to exit as well, closing the door behind him ( ... )

Jade merely grinned and nodded at Kratos' words. Of course, of course. Who would be entirely willing to go with the Colonel when he was obviously not pleased with the situation? But at least he understood the main reason why he was led out of the room. Jade began walking down the hallway before turning back to Kratos, the fake smile once again firmly plastered on his face. "Let's keep walking shall we? Now that we've started, we may at least finish this little charade." He told them that he'd be sending Kratos to help him with paperwork. While this wasn't a complete lie, it wasn't all what he was going to do ( ... )

Yuan chose to ignore Jacky's apology for the time being; in fact, he was just going to ignore her as well. Short of snapping at her and ordering her to leave, that was probably the most efficient means of making it clear that she was not welcome in the room. Right now his emotions were alternating between anger and sadness, swinging from one end of the scale to the other almost in the blink of an eye.

This entire situation was throwing him even more off-kilter emotionally than he had been previously. It was hard for him NOT to blame them for it... Jade in particular. That bastard. Why had he considered him a friend in the first place?

Today really had not gone well at all. Jacky had meant to visit Yuan and make it a pleasant visit but various problems had turned this all wrong.

It was clear to her that Yuan still don't want her to be here. She still didn't know what his problem with her or Kratos was. Although, she did wonder sometimes but she'd rather not dwell on anything. Her first priority was to make sure yuan got better. They could handle all other things later.

"I really have missed you, you know," She said quietly, not looking at him now.
