The Little Match Jim! O, that was an adorable and perfect riff off the original tale.

I'm reminded slightly of the story, "To Build a Fire." The only thing I can think is that I believe Kirk would have TRIED to light a small bonfire with the matches to keep warm, but perhaps the wind blows them out or the wood is too wet. But Kirk had survival training - he never would have wasted the matches. It's a sweet story, but it lost believability there.

The hallucinations were very sweet though. Poor Jim. Hypothermia is NOT fun.

yeah, I figured the whole building a fire thing wouldn't have worked well with there being snow everywhere and everything being wet but...I've never actually been in an area where it snows all the time (living in Southern California) so I was guessing. XDD

and yeah, I agree with the wasting matches, but I had no idea how else to make him waste the matches, which he needed to do to parallel the story I was supposed to be basing it off of. XDD

Well, I grew up in a colder climate (New Hampshire), and I've tried to build fires when it's cold and snowy. With a match, it's almost impossible. First, Jim's hands would shake, which might cause the match to go out. Second, if he has one of his hallucinations, he might be so startled that he drops the match anyway, which would put it out. Third, even if he does everything right, the wood for the fire might not catch because it's cold and damp. Don't worry, there are ways to make him waste matches. :)

But anyway, good story. :)

I enjoyed the total fantasy element of the story as well as the artwork. Well done.

I loved the mix of fic and art; it really put me in the 'bedtime story' mood, and I'm glad you didn't make this end as tragically as the original Little Match Girl story.

(Also, I was listening to Whistle Down the Wind while reading, and somehow it seemed to click. I thank you for the addition to my mental Jim/Bones soundtrack.)
