Hello!

Thank you so much for putting this together! This is very helpful especially for non-locals like me who plan to visit the place.

May I ask - can you go through the entire store without buying any photos? I'm only planning to buy goods on display. With this, I won't need to use the 'app'. Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi!

No problem! I'm glad it helps.

In short yes.

There's no obligation to buy photos or merchandise as far as I'm aware. I have seen people go in with companions and only one person bought anything. I imagine you can go through the whole shop without buying anything, or without buying any photos.

If you don't want to use the 'app' because you don't need to, it may be good if you can explain that to them because they may try to help you open the app. In the Tokyo shop when I went, they checked everyone has access to app one at a time as you enter (the QR code is on a lanyard around the staff's neck), but when I went to Fukuoka they just directed us to a QR code on a wall and they didn't check we were using the app. If you're really shy, you can just pretend to take the QR code maybe!

I also haven't been to all the shops, and Fukuoka has since relocated so it's a digital shop now, but some goods were in cases when I visited, and I think there was a way to add the item numbers in the app in those instances. If you're heading to ( ... )

Hi!

I'm glad it's helpful for you!

With the reservations, no.

You need to have a Japanese address, if you are making a reservation as you need an account with Johnny's Online Shop in order to book. For an account, you will need both a Japanese address and a Japanese phone number for this.

You can get a tenso address and phone number to use for free, or you could use the address and phone number from your hotel or where you will be staying while visiting Japan. If you only use this address for a physical shop visit, they don't call the number or send anything to this address.

The only way you can visit without an account and a Japanese address are to visit one of the shops that doesn't currently require a booking/reservation. At the moment that's Nagoya during the week and Fukuoka most days. They still ask you check as they may require it for busy days (I suspect when there's a Johnny's concert or play happening or perhaps some holiday days.) Also, it's worth mentioning that the Tokyo shop will be closed from the 1st October 2023 ( ... )
