Goddamn, I come across as a total girl don't I?

Honestly, flist (or, rather, the portion that doesn't know me irl): how many of you think I'm a girl and how many think I'm a guy?

Shit, these results ain't gonna be pretty.

fuck my life

...You're a guy? Wow... I did not see that coming at all. I think that answers your question though.

In your defense, I think the general assumption in fandom is that most people are female.

to be fair, I do have a girl's body and I was raised female for the first eighteen years of my life, but I'm realizing now that it's all wrong for me.

I have a lot of female mannerisms, especially online.

That would explain it.
That's very brave of you and also very impressive. Most people take a lot longer to come to those kinds of realizations and even longer to make a decision about it.

I've spent most of my life since puberty wishing that I was born male, but since ironically I make a pretty good girl, I figure all that does is qualify me to be an unhappy female.

It helped that I had two close friends that served as role models, not to mention fandoms that made me realized I wouldn't just 'hit that', I wanted to be that. I think fandom does really interesting things to the concepts of gender and sexuality anyway

In fandom? You are female until proven guilty.

oh snap.

I identify as male, which is basically a half-assed form of guilty. XD;

I heard a stat somewhere that fandom is 95% female, 5% male. Don't know how TG factors into that, but considering it was by how people had their profile settings, I'm assuming it went by the person's identified gender. In five years in fandom, I've met an overwhelming number of biofemales, a handful of biomales, and the very occasional t-man. Haven't seen any t-women that I know of, but then again maybe it just never comes up, since fandom is like heaven for t-women, everyone just assumes you're a girl right away and treats you as one. Not that the guys really get treated any different, so IDK ( ... )

yep, thought you were a girl. sorry about that.

gender identification is a scam anyway. the world isn't comprised of binaries - it's a spectrum, so the requisite labeling only accounts for those who've made an active decision to choose one side or the other, or those who're simply unaware choices exist. otherwise the whole 'girl'/'boy' thing is pretty useless. xy and xx, however... well that's a more interesting subject.

...honestly. I don't know. I never really thought about that. Like... hmm. I don't know.

I mean, I just kinda think of you as Kiin. Like... I don't really think about attaching gender to you. mer.

And, of course, I do totally know you in real life, so really I don't count, do I? Oh, well.
