I remember Lurlene McDaniels from when I was growing up. Her stuff is definitely sad but every once in awhile you need to read something sad, I think. A co-worker has recommended some of Terri Pratchett's stuff to me (may have been Discworld--does that have the Grim Reaper in it?).

I have that one in paperback and on Kindle! Love it. :D

I just got a rec for a Book series becuase I searched for something like Hunger Games and Harry Potter it's called "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" the first Book is called "The Enchantress" I just started so I can't tell you if it's good.
