To Judas and Peter

So I was reading last night. I started thinking. Does anyone ever wonder why the disciples were chosen to be the disciples? I mean Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and even knowing this was all in their character, Jesus still chose them. Maybe it's to show all the Peters and Judases of the world that we're all welcome in God's kingdom, that we ( Read more... )

ok, all I can really say is....WOW! lol Deep thoughtful stuff there. If I wasn't already a christian, that'd be the thing to get me to make that final decision and get saved. :)

I dont know exactly what denomination you are, but from a Catholic perspective, you really hit the nail on the head in terms of Peter...

There is a split view on Judas, but I honestly wonder what happenned, considering the fact that Judas repented, threw the money back at the people he sold Christ to, and committed suicide because he couldnt live with what he did after he realized what had happenned...

I wonder about that all the time...
And I don't know what denomination I am either. =P

I dont really think denomination is that important as long as you are a Christian and have a set of beliefs sorted out... the only problem I find with non-denominational people is that they never seem truly sure of exactly what they believe in certain situations... with denominations, you can look up the specific view of what the belief is when it comes to things like homosexuality and abortion and such...

Yes. I think another big problem is people believe whatever a preacher says, and if he preaches one way on controversial issues like predestination vs. free will, then he can never really know, and I find pastors often preach their opinions like that. I've been in non-demon churches where a guy will read 1 verse, flip the phrases around, and go on about this complete different sermon than the meaning of the scripture. It's depressing to see churches like that. Arrgh. People should know why htey believe what they believe.

It’s so astonishing - think of it. The night of the last supper - Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him and that Peter would deny Him. And what does He do - He washes their feet (which is the lowest servants job), along with the others. He didn’t leave out Peter or Judas - He washed there feet as well. Then Jesus says “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you”

Think of the implications - He took the lowest servants job, the job now one there wanted to take - but not only that He washes the feet of those who He knew would betray and deny Him that very night - and then says it is a example for us.

Simple Amazing.

It's beautiful the love that Jesus had. A servant's heart. And yet, we never want to do our own dirty work. We want to hire maids to do it for us.

Jesus was rad. People read these stories and they don't dig deep into what this all means, what it symbolizes, what it says about God's character, and how it relates to our lives. Everybody wants to make fun of hte janitor.

have you ever read "the Jesus Style" by Gayle Erwin? Its a book about Jesus' servant heart and how he was not self-centered, but others-centered.

In serval of his audio teachings - he jokes about how Jesus prayed all night - and these are the guys He got. And likes to remember people these -were the A-postles not the B-postles, these were the best of the buntch, and yet so often they just didnt get it.

I haven't, but it sounds like a good book. I'll make a note to check it out sometime. I love reading.

I'm not into audio teachings much, but those sound amusing. It's so good to have a sense of humor. Some Christians are just way too uptight and anal. That's totally not what it's all about. God definitely has a sense of humor.
