lately, i've been really into reading blogs (blogs about particular topics, like weddings or food or homesteading...). i found the blog of a girl i went to high school with and spent way too much time reading about her husband, children, book reviews, and recipes. it seems that blogging is the new...something that's like blogging but from a long ( Read more... )

my boyfriend and i are one month away from two years too!! on august 7. kismet.

hey, your job sounds a lot like what i've been thinking about doing after i graduate. what was your major at evergreen/how did you get involved in what you do?

our anniversary is sept 8th. so it's actually like, 5 weeks away. you've only got like, 2 weeks!

as far as my job, i didn't study anything specific at evergreen to prepare me. i have a bachelors in liberal studies with a concentration in social sciences. i took some developmental and social psych, some sociology, anthropology, and a little bit of case management and counseling. i volunteered at a domestic violence shelter on their crisis phone for 6 months and then got an internship there as a children's advocate for another 6 months. i think that experience was my ticket into my particular job, as opposed to a job as a "residential counselor" which are fairly easy to come by.

i got my job on craigslist. you can also try just googling around for different things "group homes" "residential facilities" "youth treatment centers" etc etc for agencies and then check their employment sections.

i'm happy to answer any more questions! i love my job!

i miss you. it's hard to eat pork lung without shedding a tear. but really, the other day "boyfriend" (we are forbidden to speak his name on teh internetz) and i were really craving bucca di beppo but we couldn't justify going with only two people. and he said, "man, tell chubba to come back so we can go to bucca di beppo". really, he said that. and then we were sad.
