Mom is doing ok - they did some tests and sent her home with a pain killer and antibiotic at 3:30 am. I stayed with her through Friday morning, took her to a doctor's appointment, then went to work for a half day. She called at 5:30 pm with a high fever and wanted me to come back. I spent the rest of the weekend with her (Dave came down for part of ( Read more... )

I can't imagine that, if a man were going to purchase a bra, they would choose a strapless one. Generally they are built for function, which means they vaguely resemble medieval torture devices.

Did you mean "I'm sure you'll look pretty" to indicate "I'm sure your breasts will be adequately and comfortably supported"?

Seriously, though, the dress is a little interesting.. it's a 2 piece halter top thing with a long skirt with a freaking bustle, and it's BRIGHT CRANBERRY RED. I wish I had a picture of it. Maybe I'll have someone take one when i go for the fitting.

and btw...i don't know the name of the brand, but ashley recently bought a strapless bra at jc penney and was incredibly suprised at the quality of it, let alone the fact that it was uber cheap.

yeah, i decided that maybe the best route for this is to visit Macy's and just try to find something there. they have a "special occasion" department, so they have to have a pretty decent selection of weirdly shaped bras.

at least i'm in a situation where i need the bra mainly for coverage versus support. i just don't want to have to be yanking it up all evening. yay small boobies!

yeah...i almost always forget how much department stores have. you figure i'd be all about them in favor of being lazy...although while in macy's i have to dodge the perfume and make-up ladies. i swear one of these days i will clothesline them in a fury.

i'm sorry to hear about your mom. i hope everything turns out okay.

i absolutely hate strapless bras, but i do have one from victoria's secret. it's not the uber-fancy one, it's from their "pink" line. i don't remember how much it was, but it was under $50. good luck!

yeah, i'm not sure about VS for this situation. i feel like their strapless bras aren't that much more effective than the department store brands, but are significantly more expensive. i may try both VS and Macy's and see what the selection is like. Ideally i'd like to go after one of those convertible dealies so i never have to buy another "special occasion" bra again.

Again, shouldn't have limited it to just women. Bare Necessities has lots of good stuff for special occasions, and get a lot of traffic from people looking for underwear for weddings.

They have a website now, too: http://necessarysecrets.com/

My wife checked them out for her wedding dress, but came across a better plunge bra at GAP for cheaper.
