Dear Steve Jobs,
Today you wiped the smirk off the faces of your smuggest customers to date: iPhone owners. Thank you. I experienced levels of schadenfreude that would be considered illegal by most international laws, but it was spectacular watching the collection of bitching, screaming and, of course, online petitions. My personal favorites were ( Read more... )

Yes, I know that want. That's why I already have a Nokia 770. I suppose I might glance in the direction of the iPod Touch when and if I decide to think about upgrading it, but the Nokia 800 is also out.

I dunno, I don't really get the iPod thing.

All things being equal, a full-blown version of Safari does count for a lot. Right now I'm just trying to be practical about it, and hopefully that will take long enough for a version with more storage to come out.

(Practical as in, for example: How many free WiFi hotspots am I realistically going to come across while I'm out and about and want to use it?)

I want one...but that's the emotional-gadget freak talking. It's an impressive device and its sexiness cannot be denied. At some point I'm taking the plunge...

More practically speaking, however, I'm going to wait a bit. Already have an iPod and while impressive in its own right the 16GB of space is too little - albeit its perhaps the "flash sweet-spot", at least for now. Also, while the concept of INTARWEBS in MY POCKET is attractive I've yet to find a device within this form factor that provides a compelling experience. Hell, I have an N800..just doesn't cut it IMO (selling it btw). I dunno maybe Apple hit the nail on the head with this one but for me screen size is a drawback (for INTARWEBBING anyways) - reason why I'm starting to consider a UMPC...big, light AND well...it's Windows so shit should work.

Being able to buy iTunes music thru it AND having it sync with your on PC library is neat. Being jacked another buck just to turn the track into a ringtone is not.

16GB just isn't to make it worth paying that much for a new device when I already have a perfectly functional iPod. I'd rather wait a few years until it has about three to four times the capacity. Also, the first generation model of anything Apple puts out is always overpriced (see iPhone).

But yeah, it's a neat toy and I look forward to leaving fingerprints all over the display model at the Apple Store.
