Title: You Are My Home (9/?) Pairings: pre-Rose/Nine Genre: Romance Rating: PG for this chapter Author's Note: This took a bit longer than I intended unfortunately but I'm already working on the next chapter.
I find it hilarious that Capt Jack knew Rose's favorite flower and didn't let on to the Doctor. I am glad the Doctor realises that Capt Jack has reformed and seeks his approval. I think it is so sweet that the Doctor is trying very hard to please Rose.
This was my favorite dialog in this chapter: “Doctor I must confess myself most disappointed,” she says as she adjusts the bouquet in her hand. She secretly delights in his momentary look of surprise. “You didn’t follow the rules of our game properly.”
“Well, Miss Tyler, I must ask your forgiveness. How though did I break the rules? I was supposed to try to guess your favorite flowers, wasn’t I?” he asks.
Rose beams at him. “Precisely. You were to try to guess my favorite, not send me flowers so impossibly wonderful that they surpass my old favorites.”
The Doctor laughs and Rose can’t help but join in. “Well in that case I am not sorry at all, Miss Tyler. Particularly not when my gift is rewarded with such cruel teasing....?” I am also looking forward to the upcoming conversation
( ... )
*Claps hands in glee* The Doctor never does anything by halves. He doesn't get Rose's favourite flower instead he gets her something that surpasses it. I was really waiting for the I'm so impressive speech. Jack managed to take him down a little though. Oh those two work so well together.
Lol So Mr Mitchell will be there soon. Wonder how the conversation will go.
I spent a lot of time researching the Victorian meanings of different flowers and then looking at pictures of them to decide what the Doctor would think Rose would think was pretty and Jack would also approve of. Then I found a picture of a pink and yellow Dahlia and knew it was perfect.
And yes Jack did know the whole time. He is Jack after all and would certainly during a time when flowers have such significance make out his business to know things like that. Watching the Doctor try to pick out flowers for a girl was an opportunity he couldn't possibly pass up. xD

The conversation with Adam is going to be quite entertaining, or at least I certainly hope it will be. I'm having fun writing it anyway. xD

Oh Jack, such a charmer!
Lol! I love how she teases him by telling the Doctor that he cheated by giving her a new favorite flower!
ETA: Also LOL to the fact that Jack knew what her favorite flowers used to be.
