Rose and Maia's flat, Monday afternoon.

Rose was sat cross-legged at the counter in the kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal and reading the paper. The lab was closed except for Essential Personnel today and tomorrow, so she had a four day weekend.

Now, here she was, eating cereal and wondering where Maia had gotten off to. And maybe wondering if and when the Doctor was stopping by.

Maia came in several minutes later a triumphant smile on her face. "Happy Fourth of July... early anyway but Happy Fourth. Look what I got." She said grinning holding up a little counter top grill.

Rose grinned over at her. "Hey, babe. Wossat? S'cute!"

"This." Maia said proudly, "Is a BBQ grill and it is for bar-b-queing for the Fourth of July." Maia said turning to grin at her. "I just have to assemble it." She said with a nod.

Rose grimaced inwardly, knowing how klutzy Maia could be when it came to cooking. "Oh, honey. Are you sure that's such a good idea?" She hated to rain on Maia's parade, but if it was that instead of her burning down the Towers, well, she was pretty sure she could come up with a way to comfort her.

"Besides, I think the department's running some big thing in the park tomorrow," she said happily.
