iTunes Drabble Challenge

Feb 16, 2009 20:55

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.

2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.

3. Write a drabble/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!

4. Do ten of these, then post them.

CSI - Catherine & Sara
Rating: G through R

A/N: Yes I realize my music is very random, but so am I. Also, completely unbetaed. :)

“Not Coming Home” - Maroon Five

Catherine was having a good day. Everything just seemed to be going her way. An open and shut case, Lindsey was spending the weekend with Nancy, and she had a very hot bath calling for at home.

Sara sat on the cold cement of the lab floor replaying the crime over in her head. Try as she might she couldn’t get the pieces to fit. It just didn’t make any sense. There was no motive, financial or otherwise. The lovely old couple had their throats slit while they slept and nothing else had been disturbed. There was nothing more she could do. She packed up the evidence, filed it away to never be seen again. A cold beer called for her at home.

“Stiches” - Orgy

Sara watched the scantily clad women gyrate against the mirrored poles. It had been a long week and she just needed her brain to turn off. The cold beer glided down her raw throat. This wasn’t real but it would do. A short red head balanced on clear 4-inch heals in front of her. Yes, this would do.

Catherine had seen her come in, but had thought it might be case related. After a half hour of watching the brunette watch the girls on stage she slid out of the V.I.P. booth. She was going to make Sara Sidle scream her name tonight.

“Lovers In Japan” - Coldplay

The crisp air blew desert sand in Sara’s eyes. Even with her sunglasses the sand was impossible to escape. She slid down into a crouch next to the desert’s latest victim. At least this one looked like he had fun before the heat had claimed him. Red lipstick stained his boxers and with no shirt in sight, he looked quite comfortable amongst the dry earth. Poor fool died with a smile on his dehydrated face. Sara heard her name being called and saw a very fast moving blonde rushing towards her. Hopefully she would die just as happy.

“Blue” - A Perfect Circle

The little girl floated at the top of the lake. She had obviously not been dead long because she still looked like she might open her eyes. Sara knew this would be a tough one for her superior. The girl looked so much like Lindsey. Tragic as it was she was there to do her job and if that meant putting herself between the body and Catherine, well then that’s what would happen.

She saw the moment Catherine saw the body, those blue eyes could hide a lot but this was one of the things that they couldn’t. Sara rested her hand on Catherine’s forearm and whispered, “It’s ok Cath. I got this one. Why don’t you head back to the lab with the evidence I already collected? I know you can do this but it doesn’t mean you have to. You wanna be in a good mood when you pick up Lindsey right?” With one last squeeze Sara left Catherine and walked back to the body. It would be worth the tongue-lashing she would receive later once the blonde got her wits back.

“The Pretender” - Foo Fighters

Sara washed her face with cold water from the sink and took a ragged breath. She needed space; it felt like everyone was watching her. Waiting for her to blow and make a scene. She didn’t feel like making a scene, she felt like hiding. She needed to just sit down and cry. She needed these feelings out of her. She needed to run, to escape. With a quick text to Grissom she exited the bathroom and walked to her car. Unfortunately a very irate blonde intercepted her. Alone in the parking lot with Catherine, Sara felt her mask crack and shatter. Tears fell one by one as her knees buckled underneath her. Warm arms held her tight as she let them flow. She needed to escape.

“Hearts and Minds” - Ivoryline

Sara ran her hand through blonde tresses, feeling the weight of them. She was so close to the real thing but this felt just as empty as the last. Brown eyes looked up at her. Wrong…so wrong. She didn’t deserve the affection that they held because to her this woman was just a body to fill a space that had been long abandoned by the original. It seemed so real at the time that the eyes before her were almost that beautiful blue that she remembered. But she had fucked everything up and now some random tourist was rubbing her leg. Everything had gone so wrong. She needed to fix things. She needed to see those blue eyes again.

“Every You Every Me” - Placebo

Sara ran her tongue along a quivering thigh just to see it dance. She chuckled as her partner awoke with confused but lust filled eyes. She kissed the skin beneath her once more before rising to meet her lover’s lips. “Morning Cat. Sleep well?” She purred into the blonde’s ear. Her question was answered with a slow burning kiss. Blue eyes sparkled as Catherine said, “Coffee.” The older woman then turned and fell back asleep with the sheet fully covering her wavy locks.

“Almost Lover” - A Fine Frenzy

Sara watched as the sea as it made its retreat from the beach. The last time she had been here she had been so young. She hadn’t been naïve - she had never been naïve. She had believed in the promise of love though- but that was before. Like the tide the brunette made her way from the beach. It was time to return home, back to Las Vegas. She had a beautiful woman to bury and a teenager to raise. Death seemed to follow her everywhere she went, taking those she loved into the unreachable darkness. She was going to make sure this was the last time it touched Lindsey’s youth.

“It Won’t Be Long” - The Hives (Ok so I had to cheat on this one, my parents called midway through and everything went to hell.)

The deliveryman walked into the break room with a pleasant smile on his face. The team had been in the middle of receiving assignments and by the shock covering their faces it was clear that they had not been expecting a visitor.

“I was told I could find a Ms. Sara Sidle here.”

Sara rose from her chair her brow crumpled in confusion. Taking the bouquet of a dozen white roses she said, “Uh, thanks.”

The deliveryman tipped his hat and replied, “Have a nice day.”

Catherine could no longer contain her curiosity as she lent over the taller woman’s shoulder to get a look at the small white card.

For the genius in and out of the bedroom,

Thanks for a great weekend!

The scrawl was defiantly feminine but what really sent up the blonde’s gaydar was the lipstick kiss pressed onto the paper’s surface. Catherine suddenly noticed her close vicinity to Sara as she saw a blush creep up the side of the CSI’s neck to her ears. As she turned her gaze upwards she was met with rosy cheeks and embarrassed eyes. With a mischievous smile Catherine leaned in and whispered, “I should be so lucky.” Then turned on heel to sit back into her seat. Sara wasn’t exactly sure what to make of the older woman’s comment as she lightly settled the vase on the break room table.

“I Don’t Care” - Fall Out Boy

Catherine slammed Sara’s body into the lab’s wall with her lips firmly planted on the pout the younger had been sporting. In hindsight closing the door and blinds had been a good idea when she had been preparing for the eventual fight with Sara. The kissing was just an unexpected bonus. The blonde ran her hands up and down the brunette’s sides, harder than she usually would with a lover. But this wasn’t a lover, this was Sara Fucking Sidle and Catherine was going to make her feel every minute of it.
