Prompt Challenge: Drabbles

Dec 11, 2009 22:44

Awhile back I asked my LJ friends to give me some prompts to help rejuvenate my muse. I got about halfway done when school said it was time to stop daydreaming and to start reading boring books about boring people. Well I'm still in the middle of finals, but I'm taking a break to finish these up and post them. I hope you enjoy. (Also these are unbeated…eeeek! In my defense they are drabbles.)

Disclaimer: I'm a college student that lives off indescribable foods and not enough hours of sleep. You can sue but I'll probably just give you the 25 cents I have in the bank and be done with it. I own none of these lovely characters or the worlds they live in.

Prompt: Catherine/Sara - That's life

Sara looked around at the carnage. Bodies where lit up by the lights of the patrol cars, illuminating their lifeless faces in the warm Vegas night. A simple home invasion had gotten out of control and now the neighborhood side walk cradled the motionless forms of two soon to be decorated heroes. On the lawn laid the body of twelve-year-old girl, blood seeping from her wound and disappearing into the vibrantly green lawn. The lanky brunette tried to still her nerves and place up enough walls to be able to step inside the house. Death was a part of life and more times than not the reason she came into work everyday. This was why she was here; this was her life.

Prompt: Catherine/Sara - First kiss

Sitting down next to the pensive brunette Catherine asked, “Is it hard?”

Confused the brunette responded, “What?”

Catherine softly explained, “Being apart from Grissom during the holidays.”

Smiling slightly at her colleague’s concern she responded honestly, “Not really. We talk every night on the phone and I have you guys to keep me company.”

Patting the younger woman’s thigh and said, “Well you know we’ll always be here for you. We’re a family after all. A very dysfunctional family, but a family all the same.”

Reaching down to intertwine their fingers she mumbled, “Thanks Cath.”

Leaning forward just enough to make the brunette nervous she whispered, “Oh and Sara? You’re under the mistletoe.”

Prompt: Catherine/Sara - Damnit Greg!

“Greg I’m going to kill you!” Sara fumed as she stormed down the lab’s hallway.

Chuckling Catherine could not help but intercept the brunette and ask, “What did he do this time?”

Blushing Sara responded, “Don’t worry about it Cat I’ve got it under control.”

Catherine reached out to block the younger woman’s path, “I’m supervisor now Sara, I need to know what is happening in my lab.”

Sara set her jaw and held up a picture of what looked like two very drunk women sloppily kissing at the Christmas party the lab had held the night before.

“Damnit Greg! Get your ass in my office now!”

Sara tried and failed at not being turned on.

Prompt: Cath/Sara - in Vegas to stay

Grissom was halfway around the world but she didn’t feel lonely. Sara missed him, but she didn’t need him like she used to. They talked almost every night and during the day she had Catherine to keep her entertained. The blonde always seemed to perk up when she entered the room. It was such a change from where their friendship had originally started, if you could even call it that back then. She had the best of both worlds and she wasn’t going to do anything to endanger that. She was in Vegas to stay this time.

Prompt: Cath/Sara - things left unspoken

Grissom had come to visit during his holiday break. The team had been excited but a certain blonde had been slightly cold. She could not help but think that it had all been her fault. That she had done something to change the dynamic of the team by loosing control of her feelings for the shorter woman. Everything had been fine on the surface, Grissom had gone back to work with a smile on his face. She knew it would not last though, she knew it was just the calm before the storm. As a shiver spread throughout her body she could not help but be a little excited at the possibility of seeing her superior angry.

Defying Gravity

From: zephyr_tempest

Prompt: Jen/Zoe - Distance

The night sky was very different in space, it’s always night. There really is no escape from the stars or the endless darkness. They get to see things that people on Earth can only dream about. She should be happy. She should be able to look at the night sky and feel pride in all that she has achieved, but all she can feel is lonely. Her husband is so far away and Zoe has been moping after Donner since they got on this tin can. The farther she gets from Rollie the more she needs Zoe, but the farther they get from Earth the closer Zoe gets to Donner. All of this left Jen alone looking at the night sky wondering why she ever signed up. Who wanted space when they had no one to share it with?

Devil Wears Prada

From: smartieshorty

Prompt: Miranda/Andy - Late Nights

Andy actually liked waiting for the book. Once the floor had emptied out and the sun set Runway was actually peaceful, tranquil even. The lights of the city played off the glass of Miranda’s office and broke through the darkness of the dimly lighted area around her desk. It gave Andy space from all the things that weighed her down during the day. Between Miranda and Nate she had begun to feel pulled apart by it all. Their neediness was astounding. How could two tremendously different people both want her to fill the voids so badly in their lives? Andy took a deep breath and leaned back in her chair. Sometimes she just needed the quiet.

Dollhouse

mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"">Prompt: Whiskey/Echo - Lost and Found

Every day was a new adventure. One day they were bank robbers, then the next they were housewives who liked to be tied up. Sometimes they were even sisters, but those days just felt wrong. The best days were the days they got to be someone new together. It was those days that she wished she could remember, instead of the flashes of violence that pounded through her head reminding her of her past experiences. She felt so many people within her, but even with all those voices she could never find the right one. They had separated them and it hurt so much. The only time she ever felt happy was when they were together. She would do whatever it took to find her, even if that meant no more adventures.

mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"">Prompt: Whiskey/Echo - Reset

The war was over. The Dollhouse had been crushed and the survivors had been left to pull themselves back up from the wreckage. No money, no identities, and with scars that would mar their bodies and minds they walked away from each other. They were free to be whomever they wanted now.

Two brunettes slept through a late Sunday a morning letting the light of midday keep their skin warm as the sheets bunched at the bottom of the bed. One of them reached out towards the side table fumbling for her glasses and the bed shifting woke the other occupant.

“Sorry babe. Did I fall asleep?”

While gently pushing a loose strand of hair back behind her lover’s ear she replied, “Just for a little while.”

Glee

From: jetgirl78

Prompt:

Puck began to think that maybe making pot laced cupcakes for the bake sale and not telling the other Glee members was a bad idea. Apparently Rachel never ate something as unhealthy and filled with empty calories as cupcakes, so when she got the munchies she was worse than a pregnant Quinn. Now it was just the three of them laughing in the empty lunchroom with pink stained cupcake liners littering the table in front of them. He watched in fascinated horror as Rachel Berry turned her wheel chair towards the snorting former cheerleader and said, “I iz gunna touch ur boobz now.” The diva then proceeded to lean forward with outstretched frosted covered fingertips and grope a shocked Quinn.

Nikki & Nora

From: zephyr_tempest

Prompt: Nikki/Nora - how Dan found out

They hadn’t meant it to happen in the first place. There were rules against this sort of thing for a reason, well not rules per say but it was frowned upon. They hadn’t meant to get caught in a surprise torrential down pour or to have their innocent locker room towel fight turn into a heated make out session. She was going to kill that weather guy, sunny skies my ass. Now Dan was pouting in his office because the girl of his dreams had just had her tongue down her new partners throat. Nikki felt guilty, but not that guilty. I mean have you seen Nora’s ass?

dollhouse, drabble, csi, nikki & nora, cure my writer's block, whiskey/echo, devil wears prada, cath/sara, glee, defying gravity
