Okay, so I've successfully moved in, and tons a few of you are like, "I WANT TO SEE YOUR DORM" so okay, I took a picture of it + someone else took a panoramic view of it + scenic view. YES MY DORM HAS A RELATIVELY SCENIC VIEW SOMEWHAT.
Anyway, below is a panoramic view, so...
Uh, rather distorted because it wasn't held nicely. Not sure who took this view, though. o.o;; Either my mom or my bro...
Completely normal view of my room. :3 Just one side of it. It's bare because I haven't put anything at all in it. And well, srsly for 9 months (39 weeks to be exact), decorating it is just going to make packing even tougher. >>;; Whether I make it homely or not, it doesn't matter because I cannot be bothered, lol. I can be simple yet pickyyyyy at the same time! And now, for the scenic view...
I'm glad today is sunny as hell, but last night was as cold as fuck. I went out and breathed cold vapor. XD But awesome, I love the temperature, even though it's making me face peel really badly. Argh, that is so annoying. D:
In any case, here's the pros and cons to this accommodation (in case you plan to come to Leeds, or anyone does...) in general, a bit more specific to my place and my house...
PROS
- Quiet as hell (no one ever comes up since I'm at the top floor with just 1 other girl, the other room is empty)
- Bathroom shared between only 2 (because top floor has only 3 rooms, and the other room is empty, it's between us. Original ratio is 5 sharing 1 shower, 1 toilet and 1 sink.)
- Bright like insane (see pic above for the huge pane that allows light right through, since I have a corner unit)
- Seton House is very near the entrance, to the dining area too!
- Clean like mad (I came in, the stuffs are old but clean like mad. Srsly.)
- Everyone is nice, srsly. I haven't seen anyone who is mean so far.
CONS
- FUCKING TOILET DOOR DOESN'T SHUT (this annoys me because the main door doesn't shut, the toilet door has a lock, but the shower just has a curtain, which sucks balls. I just like having my privacy so I don't like it when any door doesn't lock.)
- Olddddd old old old (stuffs are so freakin' old I want to laugh, but still, it's clean...)
- Storey too high (as much as I like it high, there's no lift, and so dragging the suitcase up was too tough, and too heavy so my bro did it.)
- Food is crappy...? (First meal here and well, it was poop. But it's accommodation food, and more than half the time food at such places won't taste nice anyway. It's actually a little crappier compared to my previous school, WHICH IS REALLY SAYING SOMETHING.)
- Bus travel is FAR FAR FAR (I heard from someone it takes about 20 plus minutes on the bus to get from campus to this place, and vice versa. But, CALCULATING IN TRAFFIC IT TAKES 40 PLUS MINUTES which is insane. Pfft. Which means, with traffic, the buses will be further delayed from the usual 10 minute-waiting time, and it'll take an hour plus to travel from campus to where I live. How exciting.)
- Ratio of international populace a tad bit too tiny...
For the final point, I must stress that I'm not trying to be racist, but...the international populace here is pathetic. o.o;; Of like, a few hundred people around, only 5 are Asians, including myself. Well, not counting the Chinese lady working at the kitchen... That is insane. In fact, there was a meeting last night, and I could only see just 4 of them who are Asians, and that is it. :\
Just...ewfiwejfis I'm used to being in Singapore. I mean, nowadays if you walk in Singapore, of the 10 people you'll see, there would be at least 4 or 5 English/American etc around. But here, it's of the 10 people you see, 0.00001 of them are Asians, and that's insane.
....So I'm thinking of getting a swap. Or a room transfer. But we'll see. Overall, the exclusiveness to the toilet, and quietness is just AWESOME and I couldn't ask for more. But...argh, I still can't get over having to share, and having to be so...OPEN to the world. :\ Blargh.
I'm thinking, if I do get a swap/transfer, I'll be aiming for a catered AND en-suite, or just en-suite. Ahhh, I love how picky and complain-y I am.
...Yeah, I'm living a luxurious life already and I still complain. Ahhh, wonderfulll.
