Enero Update Three

Dec 05, 2010 15:41

Enero just couldn't get his date with Sage out of his head.
There was something incredibly special about her. . . something that made her completely different from anyone he's ever dated.

Which was why he had to break up with Callie.

He made a promise to her that she'd be the only one  but now with Sage in the picture, this was a promise he just couldn't commit too.

So he invited her over for one last goodbye.

There was nothing wrong with Callie, in fact she was a great catch but he's never been as attracted to anyone as he's been to Sage.

Now to put that into words without hurting her. . .

"Callie. You know I care about you a lot. . . " he started.

"Yes," she smiled brightly.

" . . . which is why we can't keep this up.
I just don't see a future for us. You deserve someone who can promise you one," he stated.

"But you did promise me one?" she said confused. "I thought we were doing okay. . . I thought we were working on that?"

". . . I tried to keep that promise but my hearts just not in it," he added.

"Your hearts just not in it!?" she repeated angrily.

"You're a nice girl Callie but. . ." he started.

"but I deserve someone who won't treat me like crap?" she asked angrily.

"I'm sorry," he apologized.

That was all he could say.

He had been treating her like crap, he did agree to be faithful to her, but here he is breaking her heart over something he's not sure of.

Would it be fair to hold on to her while also leaning on Sage. . . or would it be better to just cut ties completely?

"I feel like an idiot for giving myself to you Enero," she started to weep.

"and I feel worst for not appreciating it," he said softly.

"Well you'll never appreciate any woman, will you?
You had a good thing here  and if you can't appreciate me. . . Callie.
The love of your life
I know you'll never be able to appreciate anyone else," she snapped.

He was at a loss for words. The love of his life?
Was she really it?

She stormed out shortly after that. She was bitter and broken.
Just when she had him, it seemed she lost him and a big part of her knew she'd never find him again.

After the big blow up with Callie it really got Enero thinking.

Sage was fun, mysterious and beautiful but really. . . was there a future there.
Not to mention when did he start caring about relationship and their future?

Why did he suddenly think he could have something incredible and exclusive with a girl he only just met. . . when he struggled to maintain a relationship with a girl who loved him for over a year?

What was he thinking?

He sure hoped his decision was worth it.

Days later Sage and Enero arranged to meet at the ice rink downtown.

It was their second date and this time Enero was taking the lead.

"So are you good at skating?" Enero asked playfully.

" No. . . I'll need your help to keep me from falling," she flirted.

"Sometimes falling is a good thing," he flirted back.

~*~*~*~

They made their way to the ice rink. . . Sage wobbling the entire way.
Enero quickly took her by the hands and they twirled in a circular motion.

As the time went by Sage got a bit better at skating and even though dating Enero was technically something she had to do. . . she had to admit tonight was fun.

"So is this the part where you invite me back to your place?" she flirted as their date came to an end.

As he smiled at her, it took just about everything in him to postpone.

"Let's do dinner tomorrow. . . my place," he suggested.

His suggestion was admirable.
Here she was trying to play hard to get and he seemed to be mimicking her technique.

"Dinner sounds... delicious," she said hugging him. "I'll be there at 5."

~*~*~*~*~

Waking up in the morning Enero figured he had a ton of preparing to do.
It wasn't like Sage was the first girl he invited over for dinner but still he wanted things to be perfect.

In a weird way he was banking everything on the potential relationship between them, so he had to give this his all.

So with that in mind he brushed up on his cooking skills. . .

and added a bit more class to his dull bachelor pad.

~*~*~*~

By the time 5:00 rolled around he felt much more prepared for his evening with Sage.

"Welcome to my humble adobe," he smiled kissing her hand.

Inside everything went better than he expected.
His porkchops hadn't burnt and the conversation was both deep and comfortable.

Enero really opened up to Sage, dishing out the dirt on his past relationships and how recently all he's been wanting is something real.

Sage seemed to get that. . . and assured him she was looking for the same thing.

They continued their conversation by cuddling up on the living room rug.

"So you have to tell me . . . if you could be anywhere, at anytime where would you like to be?
. . .
Like. . . would you want to be there at the end of the world, would you like to be there in the beginning?

What's the one place in the world you'd like to be?" Sage asked playfully.

". . . would it be cheesy to say I'm where I want to be," he smirked.

Sage giggled softly.

"Cheesy if you don't mean it. Sweet if you do," she replied.

Kissing her, she could feel he meant it.

Which in that moment had her wondering what had she gotten herself into.
