Ooh, love the dialogue, and his realization.

Hee, now I'm picturing someone like Topher gleefully programming all of his quirks.

Oh man, English Topher. Somehow I can only picture him played by Matt Smith.

OMFG. This is amazing. I love everything about this.

Your Sherlock is perfect and so so sad. I love that's it Moriarty that came to the Dollhouse, I love that John is involved. And I love love love how sorry Adelle is. That's very true to a very complex character, you've captured her beautifully.

Thank you for writing this. :D

Thank you so much! I loved Adelle's character in the series, and it was a real treat to get to explore her facing up to something like this. And the Moriarty twist made me grin like an idiot when it popped into my head - this was just one of those stories that seemed to write itself as soon as I read the prompt.

The bit about John absolutely GUTTED me. That was a truly incredible twist. And the fact that that was the thing to really set Sherlock off... oh god. I loved his resolve, though, to buy himself even if he didn't want to change. That rocked. I really liked what you did here---the things that were done to Sherlock and John weren't super drastic like it seems most of the Dollhouse stories are (I haven't watch the show; just know the premise); they remained 95% themselves. Somehow that's even creepier! So so good!

And now I wish I were posh enough to get an invitation!

I know right?? The whole reason I was asking about it was that I wanted an invitation - Fortnum and Mason is a seriously fancy department store, basically full of gentlemen accessories (brass-sculpted handled umbrellas, gold compasses, top hats and the like), and there was a cellar full of centuries old scotches which was also supposedly out of bounds (though I dashed in and had a lovely chat with the guy they kept down there) - but I have no idea how you'd get one. Except work for Rossum, apparently.

Like I said above, this whole story seemed to write itself in my head as soon as I started it, and knew instantly that John being involved would be the one truly gutting thing for Sherlock. And it's the bit that makes me want to write more! How the hell would knowledge like this impact their friendship? Sherlock would never tell him, but of course it would influence his behaviour. And how would he deal with Moriarty the next time he saw him? DAMMIT.

Ok, so I know this is going to sound weird, but I was reading this story with the biggest grin/gape on my face. Because I knew what prompt you were using from the fandom pairing and summary, but I was dying to know how you played it out. And you played it out awesomely!

I can so see Moriarty as such a self-absorbed spoiled brat that he would create an enemy just to have someone to compete with on his (naturally) unreachable plain. And that John was involved with this whole mess... Man, the minute you said "control measure," I was like, "Oh no." But then I was like, "Oh yes! It's the only thing that both makes sense and would just hollow Sherlock out at the same time." Gloriously devistating. Schadenfreude at its most elegant for me.

I adore Adelle trying to keep control even in the midst of Sherlock just picking her apart. The elegant, exclusive setting was perfect for such a high-stakes encounter. Thanks so much for an awesome fic!
