Mal. Bad in Latin. A trick, a lie. Bleeding heart, pure gold.
I loved that line!

I think you did a great job with the River POV. This was a really intriguing fic! :)

It was one of my favourite lines as well.
River's POV was strange to write, but also fascinating. I'm glad you liked it!

"She burned their eyes away. Man can't look at her. It's not allowed. Too much for their tiny little brains to comprehend."
"It's the sun, River. You can't stop people from looking at it. Ill-advised though it is."
"She wasn't talking about the sun."
This part was really haunting. I also adored the ending, with Castiel giving her peace, but still with the idea that she needs to fix herself. Just overall, this was incredibly well-done, evocative but still getting the plot across in a way that I insanely impressive. Yay!

I wasn't sure the plot had really gotten through :) I mean, *I* knew what was happening, I wasn't so sure about other people. So it's good to know I didn't make a total mess of it!

Oh, I loved writing that bit. Actually, I loved writing all of it. Glad you liked it!

I really adore this. I love the atomosphere, the tone, you've created. The jumble of thoughts and images, the clash of solid and past from River's point of view is gorgeous and haunting. Thank you so much for taking the time to craft and create this piece. It is lovely!

Thank you! It's the first time I've written anything similar to this, so I'm glad it turned out well. Thanks for reviewing :)

Oh wow! This is fascinating! Cas and River are both such broken characters, it's lovely to see them interact in a really very tender way like this. I applaud the rhythm and style you found for River's thoughts; I know that whenever I try to write her, I get an attack of the omgwtfamidoing?

I especially love the way you've melded the rich mythologies of the two shows. The Gospel of Winchester! Miranda! Badger/Crowley! Angels, grace, and experiments on psychic kids.

This part really struck me:

"There is nothing to forgive, River Tam. For what it is worth, I am sorry for my part in what they did to you."

She knows. Seared into her bones and soul. Bits of grace still clinging to her insides.

"I cannot fix you." Whisper. Sorrow, regret.

"Not for you to fix. She has to pull herself together."

This is just delightful. Thank you for writing this for me!

I'm thrilled you liked it! Writing River's POV this way was such a strange and new experience. And surprisingly fun, despite the way my brain kept telling me: what, what are you doing? Stop it, this makes no sense. Glad I ignored it!

I'd developed this entire head canon for this fic, most of which could only be seen in glimpses because of River's POV. I...may explore it further :)

Castiel and River interacting was the best part of writing this. I'm glad you liked their scenes together.

It was a pleasure!

This is gorgeous. You have River's fractured/beautiful way of thinking and speaking down--Can't be bothered. Brush logistics in particular is great--and the description of her torture, trying to force Castiel out because she didn't say yes perfectly captures the horror angel vessels have always had on SPN. Well done!
