I'm not certain what series of links brought me to this story, but I'm glad I found it. It was fun and surprising and quite true to Vala's character especially, along with the CM crossover, which could have been awkward but wasn't.
One fandom - CM - I was just a casual viewer, but a couple of my good friends are hardcore fans and helped me out a lot. I've never written a crossover before and was trying to keep a good balance.
Also, I had never written, or even thought about writing anything from Vala's point of view. I liked her character lots and lots, but she didn't really call to me.
This is fantastic! And so much fun. Vala and Hotch are great together, and their last conversation together was very touching. I adore the scene with Jack and Cam meeting up with the girls and Hotch and Morgan for lunch. The line about no one ever believing the deep space telemetry cover story was perfect, too. ^__^
I had fun writing this. It ended up being *way* longer than I planned. I'm glad that people who watch both shows are liking this and finding the characters in character.
“Ten years, Mitchell, ten years and I can almost guarantee I know what she’s going to be having and that I’ll probably like it.”
and
“Agent Hotchner was asking me about my past,” Vala said, “and as I’m a woman of mystery, there wasn’t much to tell.”
and that whole lunch scene, and really everything where Vala doesn't quite fit in. I love her portrayal in this story, and her interaction with Hotch, especially their conversation at the end, and the fact that no one believes SG1's cover story. And the ending works very well, with just enough questions left.
YAY! So glad you liked it. I had to ask a couple of friends to make sure I was keeping Hotch in character. As a casual viewer, I had many questions, hopefully it worked in the end.
Thanks for the feedback. Took a while for me to answer, but life...
