This is very, very cool. I loved Nathan and Adele's barbed exchanges, how neither is willing to accept the other's deflections and lies, because both are so adept at them themselves. I really liked Nathan's reason to go to the Dollhouse (and that particular Dollhouse, specifically). It totally made sense to me for Arthur to have continually tried to keep Nathan away from anything he "shouldn't see" by Haitianing him whenever he got too close to his father's unsavoring doings.

Topher's casual technobabble and blithe re-writing of the impossible in twenty minutes or less is so very Topher. It made me giggle. :-D (I also liked the explanation of exactly how the Haitian's power worked with the feedback loops and all.)

At the end, with revealing Adele has a power and her game has been deeper than Nathan had guessed? Pure. Gold. Seriously, I did some kind of high-pitched cackling that terrified my cat because of the awesomeness of that last line.

Thank you so much!

You are very welcome! :D

The pair of them are wonderfully slippery as eels. (Of course, in Nathan's case, it's probably that perfect storm of nature & nurture.)

There are implications on both shows that memories aren't really wiped, per se, just made inaccessible (Peter uses the power of regeneration to regain his memory on Heroes, and Topher explicitly mentions a memory "block" in Echoes), so I wanted to play around with that.

I'm so glad! I was thinking of omitting the last bit, but my beta reassured me that Adelle having a power wasn't out of context for the story.

Oh wow. I know next to nothing about Dollhouse, but this is amazing anyway - I love the way you write Nathan as he appears from an outsider's POV. Like this line:

If he smiles any wider, Adelle is sure she will be able to see that he actually has several rows of teeth, like a shark.

Absolutely perfect.

Thank you!

And I totally did not exaggerate with that line. Have you seen this pic?!
