My thoughts on Capital Punishment

Capital Punishment or the 'Death Penalty' is the execution of a convicted criminal as punishment for crimes. I live in a country where the death penalty is not carried out - thank god, because not only is it immoral, it's insincere too.

I asked a few of my peers what their thoughts on Capital Punishment were about a week ago, not because I'm weird ( Read more... )

I agree with you on Capital punishment. Nobody has the right to kill another person because of what they have done. And surely it must be far more of a punishment to stay in prison for the rest of your life and have all your freedom of choice taken from you.

It's not just cruel but it would open up paths for other things. This is kinda hard to explain, but if punishment by death was used again then the whole value of life becomes a lot less...um... valueable. People may decide to take things into their own hands if they feel cheated about something, and they would have the excuse "well the government do it...". This opens up things like racism and things that are too bad to think about.

I hope this isn't too confusing lol, your debate has made me think hard! All I'm saying is that once you allow yourself to move to the next level of violence and hatred, then there is always room to make another step up, spiralling towards a lot of evil Why? It's human nature!
