A Trivium of Trivialities

Kind of out of nowhere, but: Does anyone have relatives, friends, etc., in Chile, particularly in Santiago? I'm curious as to whether, in the context of the ongoing social unrest, any discussion has taken place about the viability/desirability of the Pan-American Games, scheduled to be held in Santiago in 2023? The city was also chosen to host ( Read more... )

The Fox News website almost always lowers my opinion of humanity, which it lowered previously the day before, and the day before that, and the day before that. I'd use an alternative except it seems all the others are even worse.

Re: O'Rourke, at least he was up front with his bullshit. The rest of the D field, with the possible exception of Gabbard and Yang, seem to do nothing but obfuscate their actual policies and agendas, or lie about them outright. At least when O'Rourke said he was coming for your guns, you could believe him.

Fox is trashy, but entertaining. I used to be one of the people who'd buy "The National Enquirer" in the good old days, especially if the cover story was about the Devil, aliens, or the World's Fattest Cat. And tragically, yeah, Fox seems to be the last one that carries actual unbiased news, at least now and again, which is sad.

Yang seems to have common sense, so he'll never be the D candidate. I like Gabbard better the more I see of her, but she's doomed. The real disappointment to me is Joe Biden, whom I liked and trusted (but would not have voted for - his memory is failing), but who certainly seems to have been involved in influence peddling. O'Rourke strikes me as a phony from start to finish, beginning with that ridiculous name, answering questions in Spanish, and his self-serving confessions about "white privilege".

Had to laugh when Tucker Carlson called O'Rourke "the unshackled id of the Democratic Party". So very true! And yeah, the guy was pretentious af. But OTOH, he was the first furry to run for president, so there's that.

Is he actually furry, then? I heard a bit about that, but dismissed it as part of his image-building.
