So, I came home from work early yesterday with a mild fever, feeling cold and shaky. I went to bed covered up tightly, sweated rather a lot, and by evening was feeling pretty good, apart from being kind of achy and having a scratchy throat. Today I feel fine, so who knows what that was

That feeling of "unpleasant things going on all around me but not affecting me" seems to be a quintessential American feeling these days.
