Well the vet just called and he said he was sorry to hear about Dustin and explained some things to me. Then he gave me more bad news. Bodie has the fungus too! WTF! His culture finally showed up positive so now he needs to be down in the basement and I need to disinfect the entire f-ing house again ( Read more... )

At this point, I would most definitely call the rescue that you got the cats from to let them know what is going on and how upset you are. No good rescue organization should be adopting out pets that have fungal infections or any other issues that should have been caught prior to them leaving their facility. I would be extremely angry if I paid to adopt a kitten and then found out after driving it home that it had problems that should have been addressed.

Oh I already let them know about Precious. They were on a treatment called Program that is supposed to prevent ringworm and they both got two doses before I saw them on 2/4. My vet said that it isn't always a good preventative!

I don't know if I can do too much about it considering I signed a contract stating that I would take care of their needs, however they did get it from the rescue.

I would ask for my adoption fee back, but I know that it is going to the many other cats there.

Considering how icky you probably feel knowing you've fungus kitties, just imagine how bad the rescue is.
Obviously they need to start dipping their cats there before they adopt them out. The whole situation just seems ultra unethical, especially considering that what they have can be transferred to people and other pets. Ew, the rescue people are probably walking fungi.
Look on the bright side, at least the kitties can keep eachother company now...

I know I couldn't even imagine what is going on there...they seriously had between 30 and 40 cats there running around the house! They do have records that they did get treatments, but that particular treatment isn't the greatest for the strain of fungus that my kitties have!

Yea I think they should be more careful when adopting kitties out to new homes!

That is true! They are much happier it seems now that they can play again!
