Pull in driveway, bang open side door. Fur explosion, licks, wagging, paws on my chest, swiping my thighs. Get changed, grab a bite, check email. Sitting pretty front and center. Look at me, look at the door, me, door. Eyes are saucers. Wag, wag...wag?

Andiamo!Park means little kids rushing up to the playground fence, it's the wolfie dogs ( Read more... )

O M F G! I never would have considered this a thing. Strange damned world we live in. A sad one at times too.

Yeah. I don't even like thinking about their existence, but yeah, they exist. A few years ago they found a ring in my neck of the woods which had been well-hidden enough that the authorities never had wind of it until somebody blew the whistle. Not too long ago -- again, in my neck of the woods -- somebody was "gathering" up dogs in a van, either at an off-leash park or around a neighborhood. Somebody reported them and the van was found in a neighboring state with the dogs in it. The perps had fled on foot and were later caught (the dogs were OK, btw).

It's not only a sad commentary about this world but it also speaks of owners who don't pay attention, imho.

My neighbors had a Huskey disappear a few yrs ago. They live in the corner by the intersection. We'll never know if the dog jumped the fence or if she was taken. The fear is real.

We figure this is exactly how our Max was found by Animal Control in a town south of Current Employer. They searched for his owners and contacted other towns but nobody ever came forward to claim him, so he was released to the rescue organization. They use our vet, our vet saw him...and there you go.

Everybody who meets him is shocked that nobody ever came looking for him.

It's worry verging on paranoia at times.

The fact that it exists is enough for my anxiety. We're paranoid enough that even though our yard is fenced in, one of us will always stay outside with them while they go potty or whatever. Because you never know.

Huskies are such beautiful dogs. I can understand why people approach them. It is sad to think that now you have to wonder if these are truly curious strangers or not. It sounds like J.J. gave you some good advice.

Little kids LOVE them! Oakley grew up with little kids, so he's all happy and squirmy with them. Max is friendly but standoffish so the kids don't pay as much attention to him.

We can also always tell a fellow snowdog parent from, say, somebody who loves their looks and asks all sorts of questions.

The real JJ has a lot of stories, many of which she refuses to divulge to me, probably because she knows how easily upset I can get.
