1 USD is about 100 JPY :) In January it was at an abysmal low of 88 but these days it's ok around high 90s/100, which is easier to convert mentally anyway.
Ramune. It's a soft drink. I admit one of the major reasons I get it is because of how the bottle opens. It's fun! But also I quite like the taste. It's somewhere between soda and seltzer on the carbonation scale. It also is less cloyingly sweet than American soda. Plus it comes in fun flavors such as bubblegum (unsurprisingly, this was Hello Kitty branded) and lichee.
I thought it was about 1 USD = 100 JPY. Except the books are marked JPY480 and JPY1400, which is not anywhere close to what I paid. I do recall there were slips of paper inside with different prices; I think the smaller book was marked the same as Amazon.co.jp (JPY819). I'm assuming that's tax. But even then, that's not what I paid--I actually paid USD11.70 and USD21.00, so I guess there was an uplift for the importing or something.
Heather wants me to take her up to Mitsuwa so she can stock up on that and pocky. She won't admit that she's still got three boxes of pocky and a box of koala cookies from the last trip.
*hugs* Well I'm proud of you! Think about how on top of things you are, compared to a couple of years ago. Would have been nice to see you, but Steve has been sick with the plague, and I don't want anyone else to catch it!
