Woot's Bag of Crap = srs business. They started doing this years ago, and it's been hugely popular since. For only $8 total you get three random, unknown items. That's less than the price of a movie ticket in some areas. Cheap entertainment!

The products range from the truly crappy (broken DVD players, a box of tampons, etc) to quite good. Some items can be worth far more than the $8. In at least two cases, the buyer has gotten a note in their box saying that one of the items was too large to fit in the box and would be shipped separately. The first time it happened the buyer received a 61" TV.

The Bag of Crap is so popular that Woot's servers crash every time they offer it. It's really hard to get one before of this. I've been trying for YEARS and never managed to get one until now.

I passed on Dizzy and I didn't see the BoC till too late, but congrats! (I'm not big on novelty yarns or yarns that are half or more micro/acrylic). I *was* at Hobby Lobby, though, and my local one has half an aisle filled with $1.99 yarn of all types. I got sock yarn (Heart & Sole). It's end of lot stuff and discontinued colorways and yarns.

You know, I'm not a huge fan of big box store yarns as a rule, but HL has some interesting ones lately. The Snowflake Wool blend and the Rainbow Wool, especially, look interesting. And they carry the Bernat (I think) Silk/Bamboo blend, which is pretty even if the yardage is skimpy. Anyway, if you get down there, you might see a lot of interesting stuff.

There was a coupon code. Honestly, I think that's why I managed to score some crap, finally. It took me two tries--I missed the code the first time and got an "Order denied" message, but then I found the code ("SNAIL") in the forums and was able to get through.

Sometime after I saw the code in the forums, they filtered it out so it said "a secret!" instead. Heh. But if you read the description of the product, there was a big hint as to what it would be.

Yes, I like Hobby Lobby's selection of yarn better than Michaels and Joann. Unfortunately they are inconvenient to me, so I only manage to get there maybe once a year. :(

Oh, well done! Someone else on my Flist managed to get a BoC at one point, but in confusion committed the cardinal schoolboy error and only ordered one. He got one item: a great big (three or four feet tall) loudspeaker. Singular. Not sure if he ever had the right cables to use it, either.

At one point, I'm sure I found a retailer that sold (effectively) all Bs o C, all the time. Can't remember what, where or whether they had any chance of being anywhere near as good as the wootylicious ones.
