Least you got an electric one, I know from experience that getting around this place in a manual one is horrible. Most of the school is fine, but the elevator is next to impossible
Wtf, Walter? It's an /elevator/. And the house was /built/ for a wheelchair bound Xavier.

That, uh, isn't exactly accurate. The school's owned and run by a man in a wheelchair, who had the elevator put in in order to make it more accessible. The only thing harder about a manual wheelchair is that you have to turn the wheels yourself. Wheeling into an elevator and then either backing out of it, or turning within the elevator -- which is a large public-style elevator -- shouldn't be a problem.

Walter's a bit clumsy, if you had seen him when he was still wheelchair bound, he had a rough time getting it to turn. Him using the elevator was more like wheel in, then try and hit the proper button leaning backwards. While someone with practice could likely do it very easily Walter only had the thing for a week, I think less, so he sucked at elevator. While I understand that it shouldn't be that hard, Walt's not exactly the quickest when it comes to picking up new physical skills. And yes, Xavier Mansion bumper cars would rock.

Just a note for future reference, though, Walter:
