About the Author Checkpoint

May 17, 2012 00:39

We've already gotten a few questions about this so to clear up some things and let everyone know what's coming up.

The Author checkpoint IS mandatory. We DO NOT require you to send us any of your story or have a certain percent done at this point. Author's drafts are due June 20th, 2012 and at the time turned in must be 80% done and 4,000 words ( Read more... )

I had also misunderstood this and thought I had to send someone 4000 words/80% of the fic by 21st May - if that's not the case I am relieved, but still confused about how the check-in works.

Check ins will be following the format at the Merlin Reverse Bang and are mainly for us to make sure authors and artists are in contact and that authors are on track, it gives us a chance to see early on if we have authors not responding and assign pinch hitters with enough time to write.

Phew! I was fully prepared to lie and say that I was at 80%. I was this close to copying and pasting a chunk of something else to send you and hoping you wouldn't notice that halfway through I started talking about Han Solo or something.

Thank you for your reply and the clarification above! This is actually great, since it means I now have a lot of detailed plans and tens of thousands of words from my insane writing spree during the past few days. :D

Oh yay! I am glad that this belief has lead to authors panic writing earlier!

Sorry to bother but when's the latest day you can post your fic? I happen to have exams in June so at the moment I'm shifting between frantic studying and frantic fic writing.

chosenfire28 will be around later, but posting for this doesn't start until 6 July. 80% or 4000 words (minimum) is due by 20 June.

It's absolutely fine! Posting starts July 6th (with stories due June 20th) and will probably run through most of the month. We haven't gotten the exact dates down yet, but I will do my best to try to fit authors who need more time towards the end of the schedule (which should be around mid-late July).
