Note: I see what you did there, OP.
“Goddammit!” Charles yelled, stomping his foot on the ground and very nearly smashing the computer screen in, heedless of the fact that he was in the library. It should not be this difficult to check out a book. It also made no sense that the library was forcing him to use the self checkout system when there was a perfectly competent looking, unoccupied librarian standing at a desk just a few feet away. Someone needed to be informed that just because we have the technology, doesn’t mean that the technology is necessarily better.
Even if he wasn’t quite ready to punch the computer in, Charles did take a few vindictive jabs at the computer screen as he cleared it back to the start screen. Grabbing his book up again and marching over to the help desk, Charles dropped his book and card on the counter and glared up at the man on the other side.
“Excuse me,” Charles started, sneering at the librarian’s passive smile, glad that he’d been able to speak before he received any sort of phony how can I

:D :D :D Oh, loved this very much, Erik's cool as a cucumber in face of Charles' seething wrath lol!! Mmm, I adore fic w/ switched characterizations like this, excellent work anon. And what a great finish too, tho I can't help wanting more, maybe 50,000 words more? I'm shameless and i know it! ;p
