Oh man so I read this a couple of days ago and I was like "THIS IS THE BEST THING OMG" but then I needed to reply in pictures because this fill, it makes me want to draw. Poorly. BUT HERE'S THE LEAST FAIL OF THEM BECAUSE I LOVED THIS FILLLLL. And I can imagine so much more in this universe, the stuff about Erik not fitting in cars and the changes he'd need to make to his clothes (NO ERIK NOT YOUR BEAUTIFUL LEATHER JACKET) and how much crazier the whole cuba scene is when Erik can fly. And the submarine and how much worse it is for him to be trapped against the wall by Shaw because wings. OK. RAMBLE OVER.

EEEEEEEEEE!!! That's beautiful - thank you so much! :D This one was a very visual fic for me but my drawing skills are rusty as hell, so I'm thrilled that you've caught it like this!

Yeah, the logistics of giving a character wings is fascinating. I found myself developing a lot of backstory along the way simply because a lot of the film would have played out quite differently - Erik can't do the roadtrip, he can't go to Russia, hanging out on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial is right out - and yes, the clothes are just going to be a pain. I think I know how Cuba plays out (Erik won't be enjoying it much) but if you want to play in this sandpit, please feel free! :D

(right, back to NaNo again....)

You're very welcome :D I am like "accurate faces wtf is that" but that's not the point because WINGS

Wingfic makes the biologist in me flail so hard. The different backstory definitely showed even when it wasn't explicitly states. I WISH I HAD TIME TO DO CUBA that would be the most fun to write. Arghhhhh why do I have to work to achieve my dreams and pay for groceries, why can't I just write and starve forever.

/that was not a cohesive comment at all

Faces? WINGS!!! :D

Ooooh, a fellow biologist? :D Yes, that working thing just gets in the damned way, though my boss doesn't seem to bat an eyelid when I hide away at the back of the lab with my netbook in an attempt to write while waiting for things to happen. They don't ask, I don't tell. ;)

If it helps, I seem to have a chunk of Cuba-type stuff that has appeared in my word processor. How this has happened when I'm meant to be writing something else entirely I'm not sure, but it was very insistent. Now I have to decide just how unpleasant I'm going to be to various characters.... *smiles innocently*

Hell yeah! Genetics all the way. Yeah experiments are annoying when they keep you after hours, but they're great when you're forced into taking a ten-minute break while the centrifuge or something is running.

I would love to read cuba stuff!! If you get the motivation to write it, no pressure.

*high fives* DNA sequencing facility here! :D My life is spent in 10 minute intervals of waiting for centrifuges and vacuum manifolds, interspersed with trying to work out just how badly people with doctorates can mangle spreadsheets and/or fail to read their own handwriting. *facepalms*

Right now, I'm trying to fight off the motivation to write it! I have to at least try to get past the halfway mark with this NaNo monstrosity if I'm to retain any honour whatsoever....

DNA sequencing 4 LIFE!! :D high five for laboratory buddies!

Aha nano is a fun thing, and a funny thing. I found Stephen King was the best writing unblocker - pulpy, yet inspiring. And gory. I love a bit of gore.

Okay, are you me? :D (actually, while gore can be fun, I seem to be more into a good bit of focused violence to get things flowing - no wonder I'm so fond of Erik....)

Nano is... coming in short this time around, but hey, that's still about 30k up on where I was at the start of the month!

Perhaps I am... perhaps... I am.

Every word in nano is an achievement! I totally counted the 10K original story I wrote on the side as part of my nano last year. I would never have finished otherwise.

Well, I did always want to work in New Zealand.... :D

Think I've managed about 30k-including-side-projects and am not unhappy as it's been a hectic month in various ways and I'm not generally a fast writer. Now, of course, all my non-Nano bunnies are fighting for attention. Next year, 50k!

LOL, I just finished leaving a comment about how this fill needed fanart desperately, and here 'tis. This is lovely.
