Erik wants to better his control and precision with small metal objects. As Charlotte happens to wear metal hair pins to keep her hair up or metal in her garter belt, he uses her to practice on, usually without her knowing.

At least not until her hair slips down from its bun or her stockings start sliding down her legs. Cue sexy times.

Oh, dear, this is just so gorgeous and lovely. How you manage to write such sweet, tender sex without it getting boring, I'll never know.

*blushes delightedly* Eee, thank you. :) I just... try to write what I think the moment's like for my viewpoint character, and through them for everyone involved. Every moment's different.

This was recced to me and normally, I wouldn't touch genderbend fics with a twenty-foot pole. However, I was very surprised to find myself falling in love with this fic. It is sweet, touching, well-characterised and most of all it is HOT HOT SMOKING HOT.

The first time I read it (yeah, I've re-read this multiple times, I might as well admit my stalkerish tendencies now) I remember being really surprised by how much I liked it. And as time wore on...I realised I was still thinking about this fic, and tried so hard to relocate it again.

I love how Erik pretty much treats Charles/Charlotte the same, except that there is that little bit of tender protectiveness that is more obvious. Dammit, I promise I usually am not this incoherent but I really must let you know how much I love (and obsess over) this fic.

After yours, I tried to read more genderbend!fic but it just wasn't the same. Yours is still the gold standard to which I hold all genderbend fics. So please write more if you ever have the inclination. I'll be waiting!

Ok, I'm trying to give some kind of memorable and coherent comment, but all I can really manage is yes, yes, this is gorgeous and hot and wonderful and many other adjectives I can't control myself enough to type out right now!

I love the little hints and glimpses of their character we get - I really get the feeling that this is just a small interlude in a much bigger story, which isn't easy to pull off.

I don't usually like the gender bending myself (although I've written exactly one myself). But I did the same thing that you did, namely, explore how the opposite genders would affect the characters. Mine focussed strongly on how a female Obi-Wan would be more emotionally available and communicative with Anakin.

And, I have to agree with other comments that this is both tender and sexy. It doesn't drag, but doesn't feel rushed either.
