Charles/Erik, werewolf AU

Erik is the new leader of his werewolf clan, convinced of his people's innate superiority to humans. Frustrated by humanity's fearful rejection of werewolves, who have pushed werewolves out of their ancestral hunting grounds and forced them to live in barren territories, his methodology is to fight fire with fire: to fight the humans for what is rightfully theirs.
Charles is a werewolf hunter, determined to protect humans from werewolves and the threat they pose.
Unexpectedly, they fall in love.
(I was seriously considering changing this prompt to merpeople-vs-humans so Erik could be part shark. I am still not sure I chose the best version of this story.)

The silence that followed this statement was so intense that Erik could hear the plop of a fish somehow surviving in the fetid waters below their feet. His brows came together and he dropped his arm. “Your brother is a hunter-priest?”
“Trained. Not ordained,” Raven snapped.
Erik leaned in and sniffed her. “You’re not his blood.”
“Foster siblings,” she said testily. “He found me as a wolf, sleeping in his woodshed when I was seven years old. Convinced his family to take me in. Taught me to hide my transformations from his parents, helped me manage my condition. So I would appreciate if you didn’t get him shanked in a bar fight, friendErik took a step back, folding his arms. “’Manage your condition’?” he echoed

Tawabids, you are awesome. Whenever I see that you've filled something I get so excited, as your work is invariably well plotted, in character, and just beautifully written. This is no exception. Keep up the good work!

Sorry there was no update yesterday! And I know the plot is still moving quite slowly, but hopefully things will heat up soon enough. By that I mean, if we don't get to the action soon we at least deserve an angry makeout scene. The Sunrise Motel was a pay-by-the-hour dump with cracks in the concrete and several letters missing from the sign above a buzzing neon "VACANCY" (it now read "-UNR-SE H-TEL" like a Satanic incantation, but the shadows of the full name stood out stark against the faded paint). Erik realised he didn't know the room number, but he didn't want to show his face at the front desk and be recognised later if he had to get out of town in a hurry. He glanced around, but there were no other guests up at this hour of the morning and the solitary cleaner had disappeared around the back of the complex, dragging a duct-taped vacuum cleaner behind her

A few minutes later the small table was clear and Charles - mostly dressed now, though Raven was still in a bathrobe and slippers - had got Erik sitting down with a Pyrex mug of coffee

Erik broke eye contact and glared at the far wall, huffing out through his nose. He shook his head, his mouth drawn into a grim line. “I don’t work with hunters,” he said, half to convince himself. He stood up, shoving his chair back. “Sorry, but I don’t believe fairytales from trained assassins. Ordained or not

“I’m Jewish, you twat. At least try a Star of David.” And “Erik drew his fist back and slammed it into the hunter’s right eye.” ROFL. Love these lines.
“You should have a pack” and “some part of her didn’t want to repress her true nature any longer.” Ooooh, setting up for Raven’s split with Charles. Although I hope that doesn’t happen, since she seems much closer to Charles here.
Love the scene with Charles greeting Erik with a knife. The possibility of violence, that Charles is willing to inflict it, is really interesting. …and oooooooooooh, he’s out to kill Shaw too! Oh snap.
(Ahhhh, Erik smelling Charles, cue fangirl glee)
Rather trusting of Charles to tell Erik all this info about the case.
Excited for updates and looking forward to the rest! :D

I realised that Charles would have a black eye in the last chapter from getting punched in the face by Erik, but I totally forgot to mention it, so… too late to bring it in now. You all can just imagine it’s there if you like.

They both agreed that any full attack on Shaw would have to wait until Charles had made a full recovery from his wounds. Erik rather preferred this, despite his eagerness to get back on the trail. He wanted some time to figure Charles out, get to know his hunting technique and attitudes. The last thing he needed was a partner - he hated calling a hunter his partner, but there it was - who would panic the moment something went awry. If they were going to work together, Erik had to know that Charles could think under pressure and improvise with teeth snapping at his face

“Alright, ask a question.”
“Who’s this friend?”
Charles glanced around the interior of the car and finally sighed and said, “She’s a CIA agent.”
Erik took off his sunglasses and twisted around to look at him properly. “Please tell me that by agent, you mean some secretary you used to date.”
“No, I mean agent,” Charles winced. “And we’re not so much going to her house as… a CIA base. It's One of the things they do there is work with werewolves.”
”What?”“Employing them, I mean. Just for intelligence and so forth. An inside eye on what the government will have to deal with if… well, if

Oh my heart. I'm gonna cry buckets when Raven leaves Charles when they love each other so much.
