[Azula's back in the gym. Book about chi is open. It's a library book, but Azula doesn't care. She's creased pages, scribbled notes in the margins. It's propped open around a few unlit candles and the Fire Princess is currently punching the hell out of a punching bag. If this was a person, her punches would be landing where there were pressure ( Read more... )

[There are voices coming down the hall, one (of course) is loud and boisterous, the other somewhat subdued. As they get closer, Sokka's sharp bark of laughter can be heard, as he continues on.]

...So, we'll probably be able to use them as counterbalances or something, but then the question's gonna be what type of wood we can get to make the arm so the whole trebuchet doesn't break apart.

[haha what is this crazy weapons talk, w/e Jim's just going with what Sokka's described.]

We may can get something from the other restaurants? Seems like they have some sturdy wood we could use.

[Nope, not noticing who they're walking in on just yet.]

[Azula can hear the laugh. She knows that laugh and it's disturbing her. If they don't know who they're walking in on they're about to find out. There's a sharp yell, and she punches the bag harder than she had before. It swings menacingly with a hole being burned into it. She glances over her shoulder at them then goes back to her training.

Hopefully they've seen her and know to move on.]

[Sokka figured there would be people in the gym, he just didn't bother to pay attention to the voice.]

I mean, yeah-- we'll probably have to rig something with that duct tape stuff. It's gonna work better than a catapult, I think, a trebuchet, you know, 'cause the leverage'll throw the melons farther.

[Yes, he is attempting to rig something to throw fruit. That is the whole point of this plan.]

[She lands another punch on the punching bag and glances at Zuko.]

Zuzu.

I'm training. Oh dear me, someone please stop me before I kill the poor punching bag.

[Ever since Ironhide showed Xanth how to throw a proper punch, he's been thinking about it and going through the motions. He has been too shy to go back to the gym, though - what if someone sees him making a fool of himself?

But that doesn't stop him from going there to look around. And today, he sees Azula training.

Forgive him for staring. The precision with which she attacks the bag is mesmerizing.]

[That precision is frightful. If this bag was a person, his head would have been knocked clean from his shoulders.

She stops when she feels eyes on her. She glances back at Xanth.]

Why are you staring at me?

[Azula turning towards him breaks Xanth out of his fascinated stare. He looks away, shrugging his shoulders.]

I-- I'm sorry! I didn't m-mean to! I, uh, I just... haven't... e-ever seen a-anyone fight l--like that...

[Ugh.]

Do you have a reason to be here or are you going to stand there gawking?

[Maia's spent a good portion of her time in her room over the past few days. The things that were whispered to her on the top deck had gotten to her, but now all she wants to do is distract herself...which essentially means mercilessly beating something. So, it's off to the gym for her.

She doesn't miss Azula practicing as she walks inside, although instead of simply aiming for another punching bag, Maia's content to just watch the Fire Princess work. There's a great deal of strength, precision, and underlying anger in Azula's attacks.

...Maia rather likes it, actually.]

Awfully energetic, aren't you?

[Azula ends the set she's working on with a forceful kick, blue flames blossoming from the souls of her feet and searing a hole into the punching bag.

She looks back at Maia. Nice ears.]

Is that a crime where you come from?

[Maia takes notice of the fire coming from Azula, although it doesn't frighten her. On the contrary, she finds it to be quite interesting. She has to grins upon hearing that next comment, though.]

It all depends on how you choose to work with said energy.

Is that right? And how do you work your energy?

[Annoying princesses?]

Your form isn't bad.

[Alita is perched in the doorway, watching curiously. Azula looks like an excellent martial artist - but she's only human, after all.]

[Azula stops abruptly at the voice, gripping the punching bag to hold it steady. Not bad? Tch.]

Of course it isn't. It's perfect.

[Sorry, Azula. Alita doesn't realize how much of a perfectionist she is. Besides, Alita has a dozen years of combat experience under her belt. At least.]

Perfect?

[She cocks a brow.]

Nobody has perfect form. Everyone slips up. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

[[Well, maybe Alita does. Or close to perfect.]

[Alita will discover this factoid about our Fire Princess very soon. Azula punches the bag and sears a hole into in the process.]

Yes, perfect.
