Summary: How far would you be willing to go to protect your best friend from a diabolical evil genius named Kyuhyun? Would you be willing to pretend to be in love? Would you be willing to break up their recently started romance with someone they claimed is their soul mate? Donghae has a choice, break up Eunhyuk and Sungmin or watch as Kyuhyun destroys Eunhyuk’s life.
Donghae walked into the bathroom and looked at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were red and puffy from crying.
“What the hell is the matter with me?” he questioned his reflection, even he didn’t understand why he cried so much when Kyuhyun had rejected him.
He turned on the faucet and watched as the water started to heat up and then he washed his face, trying to get rid of the evidence from his little episode earlier. He tried not to think about what everyone was going to say tomorrow, but that was getting harder and harder to do. He was rejected in front of half the school.
He let out a sigh and walked out of the bathroom and into his bedroom. He lay down on his bed and with an exasperated sigh closed his eyes.
“What was I thinking?” He scolded himself
He was pulled from his thoughts when his phone rang.
“Hello?” he answered not bothering to check the caller ID.
“You are brilliant” Kyuhyun praised into the phone, he hadn’t expected Donghae to act so well.
Donghae sighed; he could just picture the smirk Kyuhyun had on his face.
“I’m an idiot” he said
“Normally I would agree” Kyuhyun teased “but this time you are a genius”
“I cried in front of half the school” Donghae pouted into the receiver
“I know” Kyuhyun said excitedly “you looked so pathetic”
“Rude” Donghae yelled
“Hey, I wasn’t the one who decided to confess their undying love for me in front of half the student body”
“It was a fake confession” Donghae contoured
“That you really cried over” Kyuhyun rebutted
Donghae rolled over and threw his face into his pillow, letting out a dejected sigh. Kyuhyun heard this and frowned, he felt bad for his friend-no, he wasn’t as heartless as everyone assumed he was. He actually cared for Donghae quite a bit.
“It’s going to be alright” he told his moping friend.
“How?” Donghae questioned, his voice slightly muffled by his pillow
“We’ll just go to school and act like nothing happened” Kyuhyun offered, he knew it was a horrible plan but he just wanted Donghae to feel better.
Donghae stayed silent for a moment and Kyuhyun thought maybe Donghae was feeling worse than he was letting on, he was about to suggest that they just go out when Donghae spoke.
“I guess it’s not that bad” Donghae said and Kyuhyun smiled
“Besides” Kyuhyun said “who cares what those idiots think anyway, they probably aren’t even smart enough to figure out what happened”
Donghae laughed, leave it to Kyuhyun to mock the entire school.
“Thanks” Donghae said and even though Kyuhyun didn’t say anything Donghae knew his friend really cared about him
“See you tomorrow idiot” Kyuhyun said before he hung up. Donghae didn’t even pout; he knew his friend meant well, he just wasn’t good at showing it.

Eunhyuk knocked on Donghae’s door the next morning, he was afraid his childhood friend would be sad about what happened yesterday. He had decided that he was going to threaten the whole school not to say anything to Donghae but when Donghae opened the door he was shocked.
He had expected Donghae to be depressed and sad but Donghae was acting like his normal annoyingly happy self and he didn’t seem to be faking it.
“Hey Hyukkie” Donghae greeted the older male “are you ready to go to school?”
“Uhh” Eunhyuk answered dumbly, he was shocked by Donghae’s behavior.
“What’s wrong?” Donghae asked the older male
Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow at the younger, wasn’t he heartbroken? Shouldn’t he be crying his eyes out saying he’ll never love again?
“N-Nothing” Eunhyuk answered “I just thought…”
“That I’d be all depressed?” Donghae finished Eunhyuk’s sentence “I told you I’m not really in love with him”
Eunhyuk just nodded, he couldn’t believe his childhood friend became so good at hiding his emotions. Donghae wasn’t the type of person to just randomly confess, to give his heart away so easily. He thought Donghae was just trying to forget about the situation and Eunhyuk wasn’t going to push the matter. He didn’t want to upset his friend.
“Come on Hae, let’s go to school” Eunhyuk offered, if Donghae wasn’t going to talk about it then Eunhyuk wasn’t going to ask.

Sungmin walked into the school grounds and the first thing he noticed was the tall boy from yesterday sitting under a tree playing a gameboy. The younger boy either didn’t notice or didn’t care about the fact that everyone was glaring at him and saying mean things.
Sungmin frowned when he heard a particularly rude comment. It wasn’t Kyuhyun’s fault he rejected that Donghae’s confession. Maybe the younger boy didn’t love him, that didn’t mean he deserved to be treated like an outcast.
Sungmin had had it after about twelve comments about Kyuhyun being a heartless bastard. He contemplated beating the shit out of the next person who said something bad about Kyuhyun but decided against it only because Kyuhyun looked up at him and smiled before returning to his game.
Sungmin’s heart beat really fast. He didn’t understand it; there was just something about the younger man’s smile that made his insides melt. He was about to walk over to the younger male when someone kissed his cheek
“Good morning Sungminnie” Eunhyuk said, Sungmin turned and smiled at him boyfriend. When Eunhyuk smiled back at him he forgot all about the fact that he was going to see Kyuhyun.
“Morning Eunhyuk” Sungmin said happily and then he noticed another boy standing behind his boyfriend
“Hello” he greeted happily “you’re Donghae right?” he asked, the boy nodded and smiled
Donghae was about to ask Sungmin how he knew him but then he spotted Kyuhyun sitting under a tree playing one of his games. He instantly smiled, and both Eunhyuk and Sungmin felt bad. To them Donghae was obviously in love.
“I have to go” Donghae said “it was nice to meet you Sungmin sshii” he said before he ran off to Kyuhyun.

Donghae sad down next to Kyuhyun and pouted when the younger didn’t greet him
“Don’t ignore me” Donghae snapped at the other. To them it was their regular routine but to everyone else-who had suddenly became very interested in the pair since yesterday-it looked like Kyuhyun was being a jerk to Donghae.
Kyuhyun just scoffed, which made Donghae mad-like it did everyday-but to everyone in the vicinity it looked like Kyuhyun was a cocky bastard.
Donghae snatched Kyuhyun’s game away and then ruffled his hair
“Well good morning Kyu, did you sleep well?” Donghae said teasingly
“Good morning idiot, I slept very well, unlike you who I assume cried yourself to sleep” Kyuhyun joked. Donghae laughed but nobody else thought it was funny, they all thought Kyuhyun was the biggest ass in the world.
“I’m your hyung you know” Donghae pouted. Kyuhyun scoffed and took his game back from Donghae
“By two months” he said going back to his game “and you’re far too stupid for me to address you as my hyung”
Donghae laughed and punched Kyuhyun in the shoulder
“I love you too” Donghae said with a smile but frowned when he heard people gasping. He looked up and noticed everyone was looking at them. Donghae turned back to Kyuhyun and nudged him in the ribs; Kyuhyun flinched away from the touch and continued to play his game, ignoring Donghae.
“Kyu” Donghae whispered “everyone is staring at us”
Kyuhyun looked up and with a blank face scanned the scene in front of him
“So?” he said going back to his game
“It’s freaking me out” Donghae whispered
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes but stood up after handing Donghae his game
“Ya!” he yelled “mind your own business” he scolded his nosy schoolmates.
Donghae smiled and stood up to hug Kyuhyun from behind “Thanks” he said and broke the hug so he could walk away playing Kyuhyun’s game.
“Give that back” Kyuhyun yelled chasing after the older boy.

Everyone was shocked by Donghae and Kyuhyun’s encounter, but none more than Eunhyuk and Sungmin.
They stood there frozen as they watched Kyuhyun running after Donghae threatening him, while Donghae just smiled and laughed.
Shouldn’t these two be avoiding each other?
Shouldn’t they be awkward?
