This wasn’t Hell. This was merely a stop over, a place in time and space to train Stephen. To turn Stephen against his real father, turn him into a monster, just as Angelus had done with his daughter. There would be no reading, writing, or arithmetic but instead lessons would be sword fighting, archery, hand to hand combat.
No, this wasn’t really Hell. He had seen Hell, heard it. He saw it in the death mask of his wife, his son looking like a broken doll. He heard it in the screams of his child as the sun devoured her.
