Failure. That wasn’t a word that usually bothered Lilah. Yes, it was unnerving and annoying, but she was smart enough that she could learn from her mistakes. They were nothing more than lessons. But now that single word carried with it so much more weight. Failure at Wolfram and Hart was more than just a few letters, strung together, defined by the connotations of the listener. Failure, was a death sentence.
