Oh snap! I'm back, and I've finally actually written something and finished it. :D THIS IS ASTOUNDING.

Okay, it's probably going to need sequels at some point, but whatever. I think I'll just do a series of one-shots like it.

in which you win the internets: katiekun May 11 2008, 21:44:29 UTC
Ahahaha! I loved this -- the humor was great. (I though it was going to be all serious at first, but the amber waves of grain segment really got me; as well as the borderline psychotic Light.)

Ah, Kansas...with your Korean family and Panda Express!

s;rokldfnb/s"dfopdfh/,. ily.

You should really write a multi-chapter fic. Because your skills blow me away. =D

(will check up for more later.)

Haha, the bit about the Korean family comes from an old joke we had back in eighth grade, where we used to say that the town our school was in was .01% Asian--and that was Drew's family.

My writing skills are locked in a never-ending battle with my laziness, but I'm working on their next case right now. :D

This is amazing. xD xD xD I embarrassed myself laughing loudly and insanely in the school library. It's so SHORT but there's so much FUNNY in it. I am in awe.

Favorite bit:
whenever he had to research things with L it always turned into some deranged kind of endurance test

Light is borderline psychotic all the time anyway

Series of one-shots! ::squee::

You are made of epic win. Seriously. I think I love this. (Read: I know I love this.)

'Poor thing went a bit stir-crazy there (the maniacal laughter was particularly unpleasant).'

I LOVE THIS LINE. It made me giggle-snort. Which was actually kind of unpleasant in a pleasant way. =/

Also, the L-ness was awesome. He just doesn't find places. =D

(From last post:) My writing skills are locked in a never-ending battle with my laziness, but I'm working on their next case right now.Arg, I know what you mean. I'm writing an lol story called Catfish Haven for Death Note. In which Raito is an aimless, drunken college student living off Daddy's good fortune, and L is a struggling young detective who can't get a job to save his life. And this is all despite their apparent genius ( ... )

It's fun to imagine people (AKA Light's family) trying to ask L about his travels.

"So how was Paris?"

"We stayed at a very nice hotel."

"Weren't you in New York City?"

"Yes. The St. Regis was lovely."

"You grew up in London? What was that like?"

"There was a very comfortable chair in my bedroom."

Anyway, I've only wrote two extremely short chapters for it...and I'm just to lazy to continue on paper. (The story is completed in my head.)

Oh God, don't even ask me about my original stuff. I'm always like, "I'm going to script my comic! :D :D" and then I write it, whereupon I start going "This sounds stupid. Ew. This script sucks. Delete delete delete."
Meanwhile, in my head, I know exactly where it's supposed to go.

Your fic sounds awesome, though. Good luck with it.

To clarify:
Light actually starts to hallucinate if he goes too long without sleeping. He doesn't sleep if he's researching with L. Fortunately, in Kansas, he was directing the investigation from the hotel room while L was researching, so he was sleeping each night. Usually, though, Light to outside--to investigate (undercover), to go for a run, or even just to get coffee or something. Just because L's kind of a hermit doesn't mean Light has to be, since Light's not actually a mass murderer in this universe. He still has some sociopathic tendencies, though, which is why his cranky fits are extra cranky, especially when he's stuck in a crappy hotel that doesn't even have a decent gym or anything.

Yes, I do have way more backstory than could possibly ever be necessary. Be thankful you haven't asked about L's issues.

Someday I have to write about Light's hallucinations. They are EXACTLY what you'd expect them to be. :D

No, what I meant was that he sometimes has psychotic episodes when severely sleep-deprived. That happened to him quite a bit in grad school, but not in Kansas. In Kansas, he was just a terrible mood and threw the occasional temper tantrum.

No, there are neither cakes nor eels. :D
