ATTN: MEAT EATERS

Mar 17, 2005 08:49

Please give me your valid reasons for eating meat. I don't want bullshit reasons like "IT TASTES GOOD!" or "I LIKE TO KILL ANIMALS!". I also don't want reasons like "eating meat is healthier than a vegetarian diet" or "humans were meant to eat meat" because neither of those things are true. I'm doing a speech in which I have to address both sides ( Read more... )

valid, meaning something that is fact and could be used to prove that eating meat is more beneficial than not.

okay seriously for many people, eating meat signifies a "normal" existance. it is how things are done. their parents ate mean, their parents parents ate meat, etc... it is all they know and to not do so is radical and edgy and different and for many people in society, being "normal" is imperative, crucial even. just like religion, you do it blindly cuz that's how you were raised and you don't know and won't consider any alternitive. all typo's and misspellings aside i truly think this is why most people continue to eat meat. <3<3

exactly. and that does not help to prove the benefits of eating meat. therefore i am still in the dark on any sort of fact or figure to prove that eating meat is good in any way. it makes you wonder what would happen if people stopped to think about what they're doing from time to time.

but if people think about what they're doing then it takes away the unpredictable technicality of life. No fun.

I don't think there is any benefit to eating meat. As long as you get all the healthy stuff you need to live as a vegetarian, I'm sure that is much healthier. I would honestly love to become a vegetarian, but it is extremely difficult, being in a family of meat eaters and all.

i havent read all of the responses already posted in here, so this might have already been said. liking meat (taste/texture/smell/etc) really is a valid reason to eat it. it might not be the most healthy or environmentally friendly reason, but humans arent the most healthy or environmentally friendly creatures. enjoyment is a huge factor in a person's decision making process, especially when food is involved. food provides 2 purposes: nourishment, and enjoyment. basically, by choosing a veggie/vegan diet, they're relying on facts and choosing nourishment (i wont lie, veggie diets are way more healthy than the omnivore diet that i have). and those who choose omnivorous diets are opting more for enjoyment....unless you're one of the few that really doesnt like meat, in which case you'd choose veggie for both reasons

choosing to eat meat is almost like choosing to go skydiving. all logic says you shouldnt jump out of a plane at 30,000 feet....but it sure does look fun!
