Missed the original post (was at a friend's house). Am horrified that the company would be so draconian, really. It isn't as if you caused the accident, and really, who expects that the company car will truly only be driven by one person?
Would putting up a PayPal button help? I'd gladly boost the signal and donate.
Thank you and yes, I was pretty horrified as well but it's their right *sigh*
I don't even .. know how a PayPal button would work? Or how it could be put up. But .. I really don't want to come across as if I'm a beggar for money or anything. That's not what my posts were about, begging or mooching off of my flist. At first, I just needed a place to vent, and then .. well .. everyone's nice words do help, soothe my aching heart a little. So .. thanks. More than I can really say - thank you, all of you who care, from the bottom of my heart.
Oh, honey, you wouldn't be a beggar. Loads of people nowadays are asking their LJ friends for a little help, and I can't think of a more valid situation than an emergency like yours. I post signal boosts all the time, even (especially) when I can't afford to help financially. It's a bit of a tradition in my corner of the 'net. ♥
However, I do understand and respect your choice, even if I'm itching to wire you a few bucks. My heart is with you and your family, as one who has known such uncertainty many times before.
Sweetie, don't apologize for anything, alright? Your real life just got turned upside down - that more than entitles you to the right to let fandom slide a bit. Everyone will understand. ♥
I'm glad you've scraped together $500, and I wish you the best of luck with the rest of it. I'm still floored that neither you nor your kids were seriously hurt in that accident - hit and runs can be nasty, and I'm so thankful all of you walked away from it alright.
Still sending lots of love and hugs from Canada, and best of luck with everything. ♥
I actually just created a LJ account so I could leave a comment here (I'm a long-time lurker, and after sucking up everybody's creative juices for over a year now and contributing back exactly nothing, I would be very happy to contribute to what I consider a VERY worthy cause!).
If you still need help, maybe you should reconsider, 'cause sometimes it is good to let other people give. You know how when you're able to do something nice for somebody, you get that warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy? Maybe you need to allow people who want to help to feel good at your expense!
I, myself, firmly believe in the karma thing--people have helped me out in the past when I needed it. Now it's my turn. So look at it this way: you'd be helping me collect some much-needed good karma and you guys would get a little help. Win-win, right? And there will be a time in your life when you get to return the favor in some shape or form and it balances the scales.
Anyway, sending good thoughts and hoping things work out!
I wanted to thank you for your post. I'm not sure if you can appreciate just how heart-warming it is to know total strangers care for your problems enough to leave such a note as you just did. There is hope for humanity yet, when people are willing to help in such a manner.
You weren't the only person to ask that I reconsider and so, I did agree and heeroluva was allowed to put out my contact information. There is a small amount still missing now, after people have helped out, so a little more help is definitely appreciated (and since there is no non-weird way of doing this, I'll just casually 'mention' my paypal account is attached to my XLcatloveress@hotmail.com email-address - and let people do with that as they wish). I will also start working next week so that I can pay back the credits some people have extended to me to help out
