I am a wuss about the cost of shopping D;

Just ordered really expensive boots (well, to me - they are normal price for decent boots, I'm sure), because I need to stop buying cheap shoes that wear out in 6 months (especially because once I'm in Japan I won't be able to buy shoes coz they don't fit me ;P). But of course I got my heart set on these back-ordered ones and won't settle for less ( Read more... )

shopping, random, real life, whining.

Pics!! I wanna see which ones you got :D

Yeah, docs are pretty standard. As long as you tried on docs of any kind in that size you should be fine in terms of that.

Black Massai ver. Doc Marten Triumph 1914's ...this one colour is backordered everywhere I've looked and several sizes weren't showing up on the main site last week and now are showing up again so I tried ordering them....

I dont' want to settle for the other colours :/ The regular black is fine but I'm not really a plaid girl so I'd get no use out of the lining. The dark brown with union jack are awesome but I would feel like a poseur coz they are not really me. The brown massai seems more widely available but it's too light and not nearly as versatile as the black/grey, especially with what I'd want to wear it with. This colour is so nice *_*

OMG those are gorgeous, I love them! Fabulous choice! I do really like the plaid as well, but ia that these would probably suit you better.
If they were on the site hopefully they got a new delivery of stock in :D

Crying over the price, the standard for your most basic docs here is about $190, fancier ones are at least $230 :P

Yeah, but I'm paying about $245 for them because of shipping and taxes, coz I don't live in the states. :P in store here they are 199 + tax but they were having a $30 off sale on docs; but since they won't get in, I wouldnt' get the sale anyway =_=; LOL

I almost bought the plaid version of those boots! But I couldn't really afford expensive boots at the time, so I was good and didn't. Having owned docs before though, I can say that they really last and are well worth it.

(If it helps, I tried them on at the Cambridge location of Shoes 22, but they have a Waterloo location as well. I don't remember if they had the other style and I can't find a website for them, but it might be worth a phone call if they're backordered again on the doc's website.)

Waterloo Shoes 22 is who I called; they dont' carry the Black Massai colour and she said she would try and order them for me anyway but called back and said it was backordered till Feb :( I'm hoping the main site is re-stocked faster just because they give their own site higher priority on the stocking list or something ^^;

and I already ordered them because last time I saw them on the site, i went to the store and asked, and within the 2 days it took to do that, they were gone on the website D:

Ohh back to Japan! how long are you going for this time?

I have docs but for some reason they tear up my heels like crazy (I've heard blisters are normal, which I was prepared for, but not this - couldn't wear shoes that touched the back of my heels for 2 weeks - and I only walked 6 blocks total). I still have them and wear them only with a ton of medical tape. I don't know what it is with my heels that make it not fit right. Otherwise, comfortable boots that last forever!

going for a working holiday, so up to a year. don't have Uni, so I have to find a job once I'm there so I'm pretty terrified, but this is as much a "you need to throw yourself into a new situation and force yourself to do something you feel is impossible and therefore gain some much-needed confidence in yourself" exercise as it is "I want to go back to Japan", you know? The "things I like about Japan" is really just the reward for the scary-as-fuck and stressful-and-tiring-trying-to-make-money part. The rest is just "well you'll be stuck there and it costs a lot so you'll be forced to try harder than you would at home where it's easy to give up" :P ( ... )
