Auuuugh it was just like her to forget her bag like that. She would've left it behind, except her documents, bottled water, flashlight, cell phone, camera - okay everything was in it, and she didn't want to have to bother anyone else for those things ( Read more... )

Kazuki was grumpy-actually a more helpful question was probably when was he not grumpy, but he wasn't mad. Having sat in the car listening to Aidan's peppering of questions and his oh-so-casual egging on of the others and their personal questions had made him wonder why he'd ever agreed without a fuss to Yuhua. He taught at a University and yet sometimes he still felt he was at a grade school. He blew out another puff of smoke, the current cigarette he was working on was half done. The sound of the trunk closing made him turn around and he saw a sad faced Mei holding her bag apologetically.

"It's fine. Let's go." He was gruff but not unfriendly, dropping the cigarette to the ground and grinding it under his shoe before clicking the car remote to lock the car. His Audi was still shiny and new and he'd rather not have to come back to his car being stolen in this god forsaken place.

She nodded, and took the lead - not because she had any intention of having him follow or because she knew where they were going; more because she had the habit of rushing ahead (which had earned her more than a few bruises in the past).

"Say Sensei, you didn't want to come on this trip, did you?" Not like it was PAINFULLY OBVIOUS or anything, no. Granted, she couldn't tell he wasn't actually mad, but the frown was pretty big regardless. Also it was a little awkward talking to someone behind you, so she moonwalked a bit to walk side by side with him. "You don't look too happy."

"Hn? Oh. I don't care. I didn't have anything to do and Miss. Chen asked me to." He wasn't lying, technically he didn't have anything major planned this weekend except to work on a piece for an upcoming show and Yuhua HAD asked him to.

"Sorry. I'm just not a good person to have around on trips." He admitted, in an attempt not to be a total ass. Morpheus had given him one of his know-it-all look and whispered at him to not be so cruel to the poor child before following the other group in spirit form.

"Oh." Oh, that was right, Chen-sensei had said she would get two people to go with them. ...She was pretty good at persuading people, wasn't she? And pretty, and popular, annnnd time to think of something else--

Man, Yoshida-sensei was always nice to her, wasn't he? In a very... grumpy way, granted. But nice, still, and much nicer than everything else she'd heard about him. "Oh, no, I was just curious... still, even if you don't care, you're not really enjoying yourself, huh."

Holy shit- he swore mentally as he grapeled at Mei, holding her arm and bodily throwing himself hard to the ground, pulling her down with him thanks to his momentum. The shade did not seem to like this at all and they had to roll hard, arms and legs bumping into each other as they scrambled to get away. A glass shattered next to his face as he pulled Mei up, a shard cutting into his cheek causing him to hiss. This was not going to work.

Pulling her to him, he grabbed her hands in his, his eyes still watching the shade and the incoming glassware. The shade was changing over to larger items and they both ducked to avoid a small chest flying. He lowered his head for a brief moment and concentrated hard- haste, necessity, go, go, go. He pushed the feelings into her as hard as he could concentrate.

"When I say go, run."

She could barely tell what the hell was going on, but she was very thankful for whatever it was that he was doing to help her. Her eyes widened a little when she noticed his cheek bleeding, but whatever she was going to say was cut off by - she wasn't sure what that was. He'd pulled her close and a chest flew by and the next thing she knew, she felt this nagging need to get the hell away from there, fast.

Normally, she would have protested leaving him behind. Right now, though, what she really wanted was to get out of there. She could think about why later. Especially since there was a chair floating about.

"Ye... yes." ...With that table moving off the ground, she was hoping he would tell her to go pretty soon. ...And had that locker just moved?

Still holding her hands to him, he gave them a final squeeze and then let go, and pushed her hard backwards at the same time he dove forward to distract the shade.

"Now!" Without looking in back, he had to trust her- he'd charged her with enough haste to keep her running for a while. Now, to find a way to deal with the shade- or long enough until either Morpheus or Bennu could find him. He jerked sideways while a chair came hurtling back and grabbed at it with his hands, infusing it with calm and hurling it back. The chair fell short as the shade raised a hand and sent a- oh fuck, metal locker towards him.

"SHIT-!"

It was against her very being to leave him there, and yet off she ran - but not for very long. The second she was out of his view, in the next room, she felt her feet be pulled upwards again - except this time, there was nothing to hold on to. She'd meant to cry out, but her voice died in her throat.

The next thing she felt was her body being suddenly jerked to the side, her back smashing against something, a very sharp pain all over it, which numbed once it hit the next thing - the ground outside.

She'd been thrown through the window, and landed on her back. Miraculously, she hadn't hit her head, not even when her body jerked against the ground - it was almost as if the ghost-apparition-Sadako-thing had taken care to not hurt her too badly. The feeling of wanting to get the hell away hadn't quite subsided, but it wasn't as if she could move right now, what with all the glass shards stuck in her back--

...Sweet fuck, it hurt.

Kazuki felt himself lifted off his feet and hurtled back as the locker slammed into him. He tried to protect his head with his arms as he fell against the floor. Really, his was a power up and defense ability- and it wasn't as if he could infuse himself with berserk or something. He groaned a little as his ribs smarted in protest and he stumbled up onto his feet again just in time to hear glass shattering in what sounded like the next room over. His eyes widened and his head swung as his gaze passed from the open door to the sinisterly smirking shade. Mei.

"Fuckin' little bitch, aren't you", he grinned grimly, wiping at the cut on his face. Two could play this game. A materialized spirit meant his abilities could affect it. Right now he just needed to get away. As long as he could keep the shade distracted, he could get out. Where was Morpheus? The other group better be bloody safe. His elbow bumped into the awkward yellow bag and he smiled. Taking the bag in his hands, he brought it forward and began to infuse. Confusion, quiet, ( ... )

Holy hell, it hurt. It hurt more than anything she'd ever felt before - more than the 'lessons' inflicted on her as a child, more than falling off the motorbike the first time she tried to ride one. Still, with this urge to get away, she did her best to push herself off the ground, shards of glass dropping off her back in the process.

It wasn't good to move when there were objects stuck into your skin, she mentally reminded herself, but it was no good, she had to move. At first all she managed was to roll on her stomach and curl up ( ... )

The shade seemed to be confused and at the same time distracted with the ugly yellow bag. Kazuki got up on his hands and knees and made a quiet beeline dash for the exit. As he went through the entrance, he quickly glanced up to check the room number before flipping open his cell phone and scrolling to Signius' entry. The phone buzzed and then spit a whiny bleep at him. Damn, no reception.

Kazuki rounded the hall into the next room, glancing around, trying to find Mei. A shattered window on the opposite end was all he needed to see and he ran up and glanced down, spotting a sprawled form a few feet away. Kicking the bottom panel to clear some glass, he covered his face as he vaulted out, grimacing as shards fell. They were all going to need tetanus shots and god knew what else once they got out of here. He landed in a half crouch, hands on the glass strew ground, wincing as shards cut into his hand.

"Sakuragawa?"

For the third time she started to move in an attempt to get up, when she heard the familiar voice behind her - that was him, right? So that meant he was okay? ...The thing hadn't followed him, had it?

"Sensei." Mei managed to move up a few inches before the pain in her back had her arms give out, and she hit the ground again with a slightly pained groan. With how much her back was hurting she should probably be crying loudly, but pain was something she'd learned to take quietly - making noise in response always seemed to make it worse. Instead she just put on a strong face, nevermind that she couldn't even get up. "Is it gone...?"
