There was an rush of cold air and a large dragon appeared for a split second. It dropped the burden, a small dragon's egg, and without so much as an exhausted flap, disappeared. If one caught a glimpse of it, it was obvious from the pale ashen hide and the weary way it simply dropped the egg, that it was on its last legs. It never made it home.

As for the egg in question, it plummeted towards the grounds, or rather, towards the unsuspecting Harry on his broom.

Ruth swung his head between the two newcomers. Neither of them had food. But he raised his head to sniff the air. Food. They were heading towards food. So he calmed just a little. As long as no one kept them from the food, he would be fine.

That immense hunger still gripped him and nudged Harry, his eyes swirling yellow hunger into the green.

Remembering how Iskierka ate after hatching, Doug moved past the guy in the kitchen towards the pantry. "Yeah, she was. She ate a bunch of meat. Is there anyway it can tell us what it wants to eat?" He said as he looked at the large amount of food. He looked at the freezer too. It was one of those large walk in ones. Well... it couldn't be any colder than Bobby. "Do we need anything from the freezer?"

"Yeah," he managed to answer Lavi, as he ducked into the kitchen and Doug spoke, "I-.. dunno. Is there any meat?"

Harry shifted Ruth in his arms a little self-consciously - and because the dragon was slipping - and tried to focus on the thought, 'do you have any idea what you want to eat?' in his direction. Telepathy was an entirely new experience. And kind of, well, not weird but the nearest positive equivalent.

"With t' other hatching, there has t' be some meat stored up 'round here, somewhere." Lavi followed them in, looking around the kitchen. He eyed the freezer.

He turned to look at Potter, "Don't let him get too close to the fridge, things that've just hatched prol'ly shouldn't get real cold."

Ruth tilted his head, regarding the food all around them. He thought about it.

'food'

"I'll venture there." He said motioning towards the freezer and presumed meat products. "I guess one of you could get something from the pantry?" He shrugged as he said this. Then he opened the freezer door and then stepped in. There was in fact frozen meat here. He wasn't sure what exactly he was allowed to take, but he figured the starving newly hatched dragon was more important. He grabbed a couple of things of ham and brought them out to Potter. He then shut the freezer door, he was still shivering.

"Thanks," Harry said, from where he'd crossed to one of the microwaves and set Ruth down on the counter. "We should probably defrost that, right?" Unless there was something unfrozen in the pantry, but he didn't really want to leave Ruth to go and look.

Lavi snatched a bowl and went to the pantry, where what he assumed was food for tonight's dinner, and put whatever looked edible into the bowl. Things like potato chips, snacky foods, and fruit mainly. He sort of doubted it was good for the dragon, but it would do until the meat defrosted, he figured.

"D'this look good?" He offered up the bowl Potter, then to the dragon on the countertop.

Ruth scrambled over to the edge and peered at the offered basket. He picked an apple and scarfed it down whole, considering it for a moment.

'This is good as well'

Doug is shivering and hugging himself. The Freezer was cold and he was wearing his workout shorts. "So where did you get... him her? The other dragons talked, can uh... it talk too?" He asked while they waited for the meat to defrost. Doug was hoping he would defrost soon too, but that wasn't as important.

The microwave pinged on Ruth's third apple, and Harry gingerly removed the plate of raw meat. Knowing his way around a kitchen was probably going to be a lot more handy than he'd thought, and he'd sooner Ruth than the Dursleys any day. Plate moved successfully to within the reach of the dragonet's jaws, he leant against the counter.

"His name is Ruth. And, er. He's talking in here," he gestured to his head, "Telepathy? Like Professor Frost does. - Oh, and he says it's good. The fruit, I mean." This last was said with a heavy hose of gratitude to Lavi, as the hunger began to subside and he could think properly again.

Lavi glanced back at Doug to catch the shiver, "You a'right, blondie?" He offered the other boy the orange scarf he liked to wear all the time. However, what Potter said caught his attention once again.

"A tel'pathic dragon?" Lavi looked curiously at the white creature gobbling down those apples like no tomorrow. He grinned, "He sure looks like he's enjoying 'em 'nough, but you're welcome, Ruth."

Ruth tilted his head and looked at Lavi for a moment. 'Harry, thank him please.' Then he spotted the plate of meat and he settled to devouring that instead. It was nice and perhaps what he had wanted all along, but the other things had been just as nice really.

'This is very good.' He spotted the other boy after he had eaten his fill and given a little sigh of contentment. 'Thank him as well. They are very kind friends of yours.'

Doug handed the Scarf back. "I'll be fine. Its mostly my legs anyway." In retrospect, going into a freezer while wearing running shorts wasn't the best idea. "So its peaking directly into your head? That's gotta be odd feeling." Doug had never experienced that before, he knew what telepathy was, cause Charles Xavier had told him. But at the time he was too shy to ask him about it and he hadn't met any telepath's since. Well, except his English teacher Emma Frost... But she had him more nervous than Xavier did.

"He says thanks," Harry added, a little confused with how the entire conversation was going. "Uh, to both of you." Did he have to relay the entire message, or just the thanks? Doug's question saved him from having to decide. "It just feels kind of normal now, because he's thinking that and... I know it doesn't make much sense."

And then, rather belatedly (although prioritising Ruth's feeding over anything else hadn't even crossed his mind as strange) he held out a hand to Doug, since he was nearest. "I'm Harry."
