Suburban Slasher I gettheeadonut November 13 2009, 01:50:34 UTC
Having hosted and set up this night, Harry had reserved the right to select the first movie, and in doing so had chosen a cinematic classic, Suburban Slasher I, starring the Reaper. Handing off the tape to the tech crew, Harry leaned back and scooped up some popcorn.

"You guys are all in for a real treat.

"Don't hog all the popcorn, Harry!" Rikku slid the tape into the player and flopped down next to the other student. "So, what's this one about?"

I love that you got that XD gettheeadonut November 13 2009, 03:08:28 UTC
"I wasn't hogging it, I was just consuming a lot of it without sharing," Harry explained reasonably, passing the bowl to Rikku.

"It's about the Reaper, a killer who cannot be slain, and brings punishment to the wicked, though his interpretation of wickedness is generally anything teenagers do to amuse themselves. Oh, it's starting," he said, reaching back to dim the lights as the first scene opened up on a young couple driving through the woods.

It was my first Dresden book! pickinurpockets November 13 2009, 03:15:51 UTC
It sounded cool, but so far it seemed pretty typical. I mean, young couple, woods, no one else around. Hello, Deaf Valley.

"So video games, TV, sex, and surfing the Web?" Rikku asked, snickering. "He sounds like an aunt of mine."

Alice had watched the slasher flick with no hidden amount of glee. She and Emmett always used to have their movie marathon nights back in Washington, and would always switch between that and silly cop movies. Actually, she did prefer romantic dramas, but a good horror movie was a nice change of pace. Her weakness, she realized, was the cheesy black-and-white ones that were classically creepy...if one ignored the almost ridiculous melodrama.

She curled her tiny frame back on the couch with the others, balancing a bowl of tortilla chips in one hand and a smaller bowl of salsa in the other. "I would have brought one of those newer vampire movies that all the teenage girls are in love with, but I think you all would like to sleep for the rest of the week without having nightmares about Lite Brite vampires."

Starr laughed, glad she hadn't taken a sip from her soda yet. She wasn't big on slasher flicks or horror movies in general, but Starr had showed up more for the social aspect of it than anything. She didn't mind a few sleepless nights because of it. She wasn't going to admit these movies were kind of freaking her out either.

"It's alright. I've already seen them. My sisters are totally into those movies," Starr replied to Alice.

"It is rather fascinating how all the vampire fictions have evolved throughout history," Velma offered... she was still working on classwork as she watched the film. She had absolutely no problem relaxing, just... she was good at multitasking and it was easier to watch a movie while writing than reading while writing. "Complete monster to tragic creature to... 'lite brite.' I doubt anyone guessed that would be the current interpretation of the mythology." She rolled her eyes with her comment.

She had seen this film before, but it would be a vastly difference experience watching it with a group than by herself.

Oh, there was someone he hadn't seen in a while. And if Ed had it his way, he wouldn't have tonight. But there she was, working so hard on her homework. Finally, curiosity got the better of him and he walked over with his dark glass birch beer in hand. "Usually, social outings don't include academia."

Ed sort of slinked in through the door and kept to the back of the room. A brown bottle dangled from his fingers and once he saw Harry, he grinned and waved him over to offer the second bottle of birch beer that looked suspiciously like a regular beer bottle.

Harry caught sight of Ed and made his way over to the boy covertly, grabbing one of the unmarked bottles that could just as easily be claimed to hold root beer as any more illicit substances.

"You're a miracle worker," he murmured, accepting his beverage.

"I know," he whispered back, grinning into the mouth of his drink before taking another swig. "So movie night's another big hit?"

Rather pleased with her platters of Horror Snacks, Kitty made her way to put the snacks out on the table. Hairballs--a healthier snack made from mashed avocado, alfalfa sprouts, grated carrots and Italian dressing--made up the first plate. The other two contained the normal disgusting and horrific junk food--JELLO brains, Finger Cookies, Monster Eyeballs... From her bag she also pulled out two 2-liter soda bottles filled with, according to the labels, Witch's Brew and Swamp Water.

Perfect arrangement for a night of horror movies.

"You really can't go wrong the classics, can you?" Alice chirped from behind Kitty. She peered down at the Hairballs, and a small smile appeared on her face. "Is that a healthy horror treat I see?"

Kurt had arrived very shortly after Kitty, just in time to see her lay out her plates full of creepy treats. Partially because he was impressed by the effort she'd clearly put into all the food, and partially because as usual he was pretty hungry, he headed over.

"I've never seen body parts look so delicious!" He said with a wide grin.

Harry had to admire the obvious craftsmanship Kitty had shown with her diabolical confections, and grinning widely at the girl headed over to help himself to a brain.

"You know, people always wonder if I've got one of these," he said, holding up the jello to the two girls and Kurt. "Maybe we should get photographic evidence that I do?"
