Yotsuba was crouched down by the edge of the lake, trying to find the perfect skipping rock. Good skipping rocks were elusive beasts, though, and the few she had found were starting to get hard to hold at once. But if she put them down, she would lose them among all the other rocks.

And about that time, a man she didn't know happened to walk by.

She ran up to him, calling, "Hey, mister, mister!"

When she got up to him, she shoved the rocks at him, looking entirely serious. "Hold these, hold these!"

Jane approached, grinning slightly, and took the rocks with equal seriousness, making a sort of sling with one corner of his jacket.

"Absolutely, absolutely!"

He peered at his new collection, his grin spreading. "Ah. Try that one right over there," he said, pointing with a toe since his hands were occupied.

"Huh? OH!"

Yotsuba quickly scooped to pick up the rock, then peered at it critically for a second before giving it a nod of approval.

"Yes! This is a great skipping rock!"

Smiling, she put it in the collection and grabbed a different one. Then, with a look of all seriousness, she pulled her arm back and threw.

PLOP! The rock went nowhere.

Yotsuba made a face and folded her arms. "That was a baaaad skipping rock," she informed Jane, shaking her head.

This might require some coordinating.

Jane awkwardly shrugged his jacket off, wrapping the rocks inside, and picked out a smooth stone from the bank.

"It's all in the wrist," he said, weighing the rock in his hand before gripping it and flicking the thing across the water's surface. Skip, skip, plop.
