[It's been a while since he visited this particular haunt, and anyway he still has a few of those books that Robin recommended to him to start on.]
[Dumps a fair pile of tomes on a desk a little behind where Matt is sitting before sticking his nose in a thick volume about Scandinavian lore. He has no idea Matt is even there (not female = below radar of priorities at this juncture) =|]
[Ace's book choices are rather atypical for a twelve year old girl. Rather than reading young adult fiction, or maybe something for a research project for Storm's class, she's got a small stack of books on government conspiracies. She's about to go find a table when she trips over a book that had dropped on the floor, and her books land with several unceremonious thuds on Matt's table]
Oh! I'm sorry!
[The diminuative girl's voice is soft, and she gets up looking rather embarrassed about the whole situation]
[Here's someone who's not exactly a stranger to the library. Studying was a big part of her life after all.
Still studying is shoved to the backburner when she sees her cousin with a rather large pile of books. Mandarin? Cantonese? Someone was finally talking in her language, so to speak, and literally.]
Matt. I didn't know you were interested in learning Mandarin.
[She peers over his shoulder to see what he's currently reading.]
Are you making them out okay? I know it can be a little confusing when you're first starting out. It still is for me sometimes too.
[And here's she'd grown up speaking mandarin and she still had to puzzle over some words sometimes.]
[Zut alors, what was it with people and startling him today. He glanced up at Mei and his thought process ground to a halt. Oh. Right. His cousin. spoke...duh. Idiot.]
I--Ah my friends suggested it when I mentioned I was looking to learn a new language. It's...far more confusing than I assumed when I thought about it but they did warn me about that. [smiles and shrugs]

[Is aware of being peered at.]
[Does not approve B| damn nosy kids.]
What? Never seen someone read in a library before? [Although, hell, in this place it probably is unusual.]
[... wait, hasn't he seen you before somewhere?]

It is pretty hard. It's not so bad once you get used to it. It's not much like English at all, so it takes quite a bit of adjusting to.
