Careful (or maybe not so careful, depending on who you asked) analysis of the shift in time zones from England to New York had left Nakuru prepared to temporarily escape the jet lag from her trip and arrive at the Institute practically wired. The coffee she'd had before she left and all the colas she'd had on the plane probably had something to do with that, too.

With a fully stuffed suitcase and matching duffel bag in hand, Nakuru whistled the tune to some unbelievably peppy bubblegum pop song as she walked down the hall a short while after Dorothy had. "A19... A21... A23. Bingo!" Her whistling turned off-key for a few notes while she shifted her grip on the handles of her luggage to fish her keys out of her pocket.

"Hi roomie!" Nakuru chirped once she got the door open and saw that somebody else was already in the room. "Nice to meet you!"

Dorothy had long since made herself comfortable at one of the desks, and had started making adjustments to the flashlight inside her headband. She looked up as the other girl entered, putting the flashlight away and placing the headband back on her head.

It seemed her new roommate would be cheerful enough for the both of them, if her entrance now said anything. Dorothy nodded in response, and offered up a short, "Dorothy," before motioning at the beds. "Do you have a preference?"

Nakuru was too distracted with setting her bags down to get more than a glimpse of Dorothy's headband, but she did see something shiny before it winked out of sight.

"I'm Nakuru, fresh from Oxford. Where are you from?" she asked as she stretched her arms over her head.

She looked over at the beds and arched a brow, surprised that neither of them had been piled with any bags or linens to mark a claim yet. "Wow, that was thoughtful of you," she said cheerfully. Both beds looked like institution standard; a little lumpy and saggy here and there, but still serviceable, if you were feeling generous. Since neither bed seemed superior to the other, Nakuru shrugged and sat down on the one to her right, matching her dominant hand.

Where was she from? It wasn't a subject Dorothy really wanted to explain at the moment. Or look back on, for that matter. "Gotham City," she replied finally, and hoped that Nakuru would leave it at that.

She shrugged before getting up to move her things over to the bed on the left. "I wanted to make sure you weren't going to have a problem with a wall on the wrong side of the bed." She cracked a small smile. "Some people have strange sleeping habits."
