Upon entering B13, Derrick kept his head bowed low because he had no idea if the rest of the party and the clean up after allowed his skin to become its normal hue... instead of doing its best imitation of his hair. "Sanji really enjoyed it. Sure sounded happy." And happy to press certain issues of his, only adding to the confusion he already had.
Derrick plopped face first onto his bed and didn't say anything else for a few minutes. However, Derrick also knew that his conflicted thoughts probably buzzed in his melody, and J would know something was up and may even try to get more out of him.
... Maybe that would be okay?
He thought about that for another minute. Then, pushing himself upright, Derrick sat facing J, his legs hanging off the edge of the bed. His eyes still didn't meet J, mostly out of embarrassment over anything else. "... Okay to talk to you about something?"
A few things actually, possibly. Derrick would see how this went first.
"Sounds like a good time, then." J could definitely hear the conflicted notes in Derrick's tune clashing with one another. However, after everything that had happened these past few weeks, just this once he was willing to let Derrick off the hook.
Of course, life had a funny of being contrary as hell about these sorts of things.
J blinked, having a brief moment of who are you and what have you done with my roommate before he pushed himself into a sitting position. "Sure. What's on your mind?"
"... ... ... Uh... nevermind." The change in J's melody instantly put Derrick on alert as he tensed up slightly, afraid of bad consequences, being told to not bother him.
But then Derrick calmed down as he mulled the thoughts over in his head again. J wasn't like that at all. He was just confused because normally Derrick wouldn't talk and would have be approached first. Not the other way around. Like he was trying to do now? A sigh and Derrick tried again.
He lowered his gaze more to stare at the carpet between them. "So... uh... have this friend... ... that might like this other friend... more than a friend... kinda... maybe... yeah..."
J's brow furrowed a bit at the sudden change. It took him a few seconds to realize that Derrick was reacting to him and his confusion. It took a bit, but it sounded like Derrick had sorted things out a bit.
That was until he asked his question, at least. J couldn't help but grin just a bit - he had a friend; like that wasn't the oldest one in the book. "So who's the girl?" he asked, easily brushing past Derrick's pretense.
